For all the hate it gets on this forum, the MacBook Pros with Touchbars are now the best-selling Mac models per Apple's executives. Sure, you can say they are lying, but the Average Sales Price for the Mac has been trending strongly upwards since the 2016 model's release and that would not happen if everyone is buying clearance 2015 models or MacBook Airs.

I don't understand why so many people on this forum care so much about Apple's bottom line. Apple isn't a charity, why should end users think Apple making more money than any other company is a good thing, unless of course you own AAPL.

Am I the only one worried about no keynote in october?!

I’m not worried. I don’t think we’re going to see new Macs this year. My guess is that the Mac lineup in general will get some much needed attention as part of the new Pro’s debut.

I think you may rather have missed the point of the post you replied to, which is that the ASP increasing says something about the product mix being sold. It wasn’t in any way the defense of Apple’s profits you’re implying it was.

It's interesting to see Mac bashing by Mac owners in the last couple of years compared to the SJ days when it was only extremists doing the bashing. Apple really has turned into a hipster company and not aiming at the professional market anymore.

So yeah, Apple deserves declining Mac sales. Give us something decent already, for ****s sake! We wanna use your OS but there is literally no useful hardware we can put it on. Come on!

Every time I read all the complaining from die hard Apple loyalists about how trash their favourite company's hardware is, I think of my Hackintosh and chuckle.

:)

Pages and pages of the same stuff that I've been reading about Apple for years. As a shareholder, it's paid off to pay no attention, and as someone who uses Apple computers, let me suggest that the end is a long way from nigh.

Just another opportunity for some to trash Apple. Like night follows day. Or throwing a bucket of chum in the water.

The phone costs just as much as the laptop, and is cheaper to make. No news here. You are on the hook for $45 a month at a minimum with Apple. This isn’t a big deal.

They need to make a touchscreen Mac with Apple Pencil support. I think they can hit a home run with one.

How well did that Microsoft PC that does exactly that sell? Besides, something like this from Apple would be WAY expensive...

Nobody wants that annoying AF touchbar. It's literally a reason NOT to buy a Mac.

Also, how long can it take to design a new Mac Pro? It's been almost six years.
I don't find it *annoying*, though I don't especially find it adding much to my laptop experience (fingerprint scanner excepted; I love that to death). I frequently use it to adjust brightness and volume and hit escape... and to be honest maybe I never did much more than that with function keys. I moved Siri from the end so it sits 4th from the right. There are a few places where the Touch Bar is nifty, though. Highlighting in a PDF is well done. You select some text and several color choices appear on the touch bar. Select one and it's a highlight. But it's kind of sad how little I use it otherwise.

You might want to take notice. Microsoft is a top five vendor for the first time, behind Apple. I don’t ever recall them in that spot before. Slowly but surely they are creeping up there.

This was an honest question regarding that specific machine which I still have to see in the wild.

It was nothing against Microsoft in general. Isn't Microsoft the top 5 vendor mostly because of the surfaces?

Reinstalled visual studio alone took almost a day...

That is why despite the many legitimate complaints about outdated Mac hardware and declining macOS quality I still prefer Mac. Windows is just horrible at its very core. I converted in 2012 to Mac. At the time I was blown away with how great the hardware and software were. Windows has in many ways closed some of the gap. But it still is awful. The problem is Apple is declining. At this rate eventually Windows will catch up and that will be a shame.
