I cannot wait…
(For the comedy keynote)
I hope to God it's not going to be something like this. Seriously?

I wish the audience had an opportunity to reply back instead of just starting at him. 🐓

Customers of the more expensive microsoft holo lens. Would be developers for a cheaper apple headset. And rich people who don't know what to do with their money.
And, as long as there’s a few million out of the 8 billion in the world that fit that description, it’ll do fine. :)

What (who) is this product for? I just don’t get it.
I was thinking a lot about this the other day when the rumours came suggesting AR Glass was being shelved.

Assuming it has a decent 10+ metre set of Lidars on it, it would make a massive impact for the blind. It could also be used to map streets in major cities with absolute precision, and would supplement Operation Titan.

On top of that, many visually impaired people have a reduced periphery so between the cameras, the haptics and possible audio, it could be used to give the user an experience and mobility that they would never have had. And for $3,000 that would be a bargain.

I don’t for a second believe they are ready for this, but in the area of visual impaired people, it could make a huge difference.

Tim has always said he believes Apples biggest contribution to people would be in Health. Maybe the future is near.

"Reality Pro" is a terrible name for this White Elephant and will roundly lampooned.

Is reality now only for professionals?! 😎 Are they trying to hide the reality this is a digital device with a virtual world?

It's as bad a name as the "Kindle" was for Amazon's e-reader -- seemed like no one at Amazon had ever heard of or read Ray Bradbury's classic, Fahrenheit 451.

For $3000.00 including tax, It's overly expensive.

I'm not sure if this world is even ready for this Apple AR/VR headset. Siri connecting with Apple AR/VR headset??? Yeah... I don't know about this one.
Keep in mind that all of the rumors about the iPad pegged it at $800-$1000 before it was introduced. People were floored when Jobs got on stage and said $499. I'm expecting a similar set of events here where it ends up being ~$1799 and people are surprised (even though that's still expensive, it's not AS expensive as the rumors are indicating).

"it will sell for somewhere around $3,000"

I was predicting less than $2000. If this turns out to be true, that's a major hinderance to adoption. Not using controllers will be huge though. If Apple has figured that out, that's a huge step forward.

This is not a product for me. What I'm interested in is a set of eyeglass-type lenses for pure AR.

So it’s basically just like the iPad a big iPhone, all that money for a vr iPhone lol, I think iOS needs a huge change and now looks like it will still have the boring look of iOS now

Steve Jobs made sure to make the iPad extremely cost-effective. By offering it at $499 it was appealing to many users thus it became a successful product. That's something Steve Jobs was very good at. But Tim Cook doesn't seem to be that way. In 2017, If Tim Cook is telling us $999 is a "value price" for an iPhone (Base Model) imagine what he is preparing to tell the world in 2023. (6 years later). I highly doubt it's going to cost $1799. Apple is going to need all the money it needs for the ROI. It's a niche product, targeted toward the cool rich kids living in Beverly Hills.

I am indeed looking forward to seeing what Apple can do in this space... but aside from the obvious iOS-esque interface and anticipated refinements, almost all of the features described herein already exist in other devices. The Meta Quest 2 "passthrough" isn't anywhere near as impressive as the Quest Pro -- and I fully expect Apple's implementation to match or beat the Pro... but the Quest 2 is $400, and the Quest Pro is $1500.

So, implementing the stuff that the competition already has is all well and good, but Apple's going to have to bring some very seriously impressive improvements over those products in order to command double the price.

Well, It sounds cool. It's also unusual, and I can't even begin to speculate how this will sell.

Definitely will be interesting

But I'm getting that ol beta vibe.
Unusual? It sounds EXACLY like the other headsets that have come out, but just apple's version. Not unusual at all. lol

I would bet money it won't be more than $2499 - same price as a 16" MacBook Pro but it can emulate a 100+" screen! It's a steal! :) I know you are buying one, you wouldn't dare miss out on this breakthrough experience!

What if Apple were to be leaking AR/VR goggle rumors just to keep Meta in the AR/VR game wasting money and resources?
Google had a failed product launch and gave up. Meta would have done it anyway. Apple has spent more money and resources on this effort then both of these companies, so it would be a pretty bad tactic...

I think it is obvious that XR headsets will be here to stay once refined enough. It makes perfect sense for Apple to get in to this. The Mac/iPhone/iPad are at the point where you hardly notice a new device is better or faster, but a headset will need an upgrade every couple years because it will be noticeably better.
