One says there won't be a Macbook announcement tomorrow. One says there'll be three Macbooks ($899 & $1299 & $1599). Another says only two Macbooks ($1299 & $1599)...

I am all confused. I should better sleep now and wake up just after the event tomorrow.

This is good that your confused. With all these different pricing. We will all be surprised when Apple announces the notebooks. ;)

DisplayPort? w00t!!!

If that's the case, that should seal the deal on what the video out on the MB/MBP's is going to be!:apple::apple::cool:

$900 for a 24" screen? Wth is apple smoking. Seriously. They do the same thing with their other cinema displays. A 20" is like 400 bucks...I could goto dell, and get a 22" for half the price. I'm getting more and more dissapointed. Hopefully, apple will surprise us tomorrow.

In my dream world, I would love for it to be a large monitor with some sort of slot into which you could slide a MacBook (or Pro)...a pseudo-desktop without the hassle of wires, etc.

yup, I think I would pay $899 for that.

i don't believe that for a second.

with all the talk of dropping prices on MBs, why would the low end one start at 1299? and why would they get rid of a third option for the MB?

i call BS on this one.

$1000 after tax for a 24" display ???? hahaha is this company serious ? Plus they raise the price of their Macbook and now it doesn't even have firewire ? lol lol I'll wait until tomorrow, but if all this is true count me in for a Dell also. I thought Apple was some great company. I just started looking to buy one of their products, but they're overpriced and the people that run this company are idiots.

Enjoy that Dell.

Yah. Idiots invented the iphone.

Yes, and the Dell display will be using a TN or VPVA panel. For those of us who require more colour accuracy than those give, the Cinema Displays aren't THAT expensive compared to the competition.

I love how the majority of these "leeks" are perfectly/strategically out of focus pictures.

brilliant!

Security measures

With all the flurry right now, I just grab my credit card and put it on a safe place.

If that really is a 'display', I personally think this will be the docking station. Maybe it is the proposed Patent setup. I always wondered, how else they would let different sized pads fit into the display.

So 899 MacBook Touch with bigger display/docking station - here I come.

*faint*

No way. All MacBook models part numbers are MBXXXXLL/A and the cinema displays are MXXXXLL/A. Unless $899 dockable screen gets thrown into the MacBook product family. Also there wouldn't be just one screen, there would have to be a 30" available as well... the price points and suggested better/bests are clear to be MacBooks, MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs with the MB and MBA receiving price cuts, MBPs staying at the same price points.

Based on information we've gathered it seems the $899 product that has appeared on Apple's product lists is likely an LED Apple Cinema Display and not a low-end MacBook.

A 24" display -- even including some sort of docking mechanism -- would have to include additional features if it is going to sell for $899. If it doesn't have some kind of killer functionality that is yet unknown, it would be the kind of low-volume product that is not even worth mentioning at a press event.

So let's consider some options. What else could it include to make it worth $899?

Minimal computing functionality, like a netbook for your living room (but with OS X)?

Built-in Apple TV?

Built-in HD tuner and maybe related home AV stuff, like DVD upscaling or Blu Ray playback, all at 1080P?

A home media system with touch-screen, etc, expanding on previous Apple TV/Front Row setups?

well, a new 24" display will be OK I guess. No more 30 inchers? :( I really hope the MBA gets updated. that's what i'm buying if the MBPs indeed look like the pictures just leaked.

I think they overdid the black.

Kid who works at Apple Retail store gets in a quick one only to disclose there are no MacBooks or 17" MacBook Pros (probably hasn't seen them or they haven't arrived to the store yet)... seems likely. A faux leak is also equally as likely.
