my school has been selling for a week or so MacBooks for 900 dollars with a 3 year superwarranty (throw it on the ground and they will fix/replace)
If this is true I might just have to get the older model

$900 for a 24" screen? Wth is apple smoking. Seriously. They do the same thing with their other cinema displays. A 20" is like 400 bucks...I could goto dell, and get a 22" for half the price. I'm getting more and more dissapointed. Hopefully, apple will surprise us tomorrow.

I'm starting to think that we may be better off if Apple skips the surprises and just gives us what we've been asking for all this time....

I believe that the prices are all wrong the new macbook low end cant be $1299. We just have to wait tommorow 10am PST:eek:

I hope you are right, I think Apple really needs to offer a well equipped $800-900 MacBook.

Plus, based on what we know so far I don't see where the new MBP's can justify the $1999/$2499/$2799 prices. We lose ports and it's safe to say we'll get only a modest bump in processor, hard drive & the new Nvidia chips. And for all of that goodness Apple keeps the same price points? That's a pretty arrogant move in this economy IMO.

I like to drink the Apple "Kool-Aid" as much as anyone but so far this is on the bitter side.

give me a:

big enough screen to fit a 24x36 page
fully integrated for computer hookup
TOUCHSCREEN so that i can draw on the screen and have it show up in the file.

and i will write out a check for $899 right now. right nyow! every architects dream.... paperless? yes please

It could be an HDTV with integrated Blue Ray/AppleTV and it also docks with a 13" Macbook pro. That might be worth 899

You really think Apple will give you all that for $899? You'd be lucky to get a display for that price from Apple.

$1000 after tax for a 24" display ???? hahaha is this company serious ? Plus they raise the price of their Macbook and now it doesn't even have firewire ? lol lol I'll wait until tomorrow, but if all this is true count me in for a Dell also. I thought Apple was some great company. I just started looking to buy one of their products, but they're overpriced and the people that run this company are idiots.

Why do you keep posting the same stupid messages on every thread? You always add up the price, and then add sales tax. I am sure the people that run this company manage their time better than you do.. stupid troll.

It's the economy, stupid...

Apple needs to release a low end -- sub $1,000 -- macbook tomorrow if they want to maintain growth in this economy.

An $899 display? Why does the already tapped consumer care about that? Apple needs to wake up and realize we're not in 2005 anymore.

would there be any benefit if a new notebook had two video cards?

Two dedicated graphics cards means some serious graphics power.

One dedicated and one integrated means dedicated when you need it and integrated when you don't thus saving power.

Both are good. I'd prefer the first.

A new 24" Cinema Display would make sense - it's well overdue.

I've got a 24" iMac and my next purchase is probably going to be a Mac Pro with a Cinema Display - and I'd love it to have the look of the current iMac screen. It looks way better than the older styling on the current Cinema Display.

Also, it always seemed odd to me that the iMac has a 24" display and the cinema display is 23". What's with that?

Silly thing, but when I bought my iMac 24", and was tossing up with a Mac Pro instead, I couldn't really bear to buy such an expensive CD that was, nonetheless, smaller than the built-in on the iMac.

QFT. Here's a Dell for $329.

...not even close to the Apple display. The viewing angle of the Dell is horrendous at 160/170 to the Apple's 178. The Dell is worthless for serious color work with that viewing angle, plus the Apple display has a higher vertical resolution of 1200 pixels to the Dell's 1080...which is extremely valuable if you are a professional and need all you can get for palettes, menus or simply screen real estate.

Take care

that, coupled with the fact that theres such a big deal over this whole Nvidia team up thing, coupled with the things we've seen in the games for iPhone department has me speculating something nobody else has-

iTunes Store for Games (mac games!)

maybe not tomorrow, maybe not at macworld, but sooner or later this is coming, they've got every other form of entertainment, why stop there?

1) If Apple is moving to Display Port on its notebooks, would make sense for them to sell something that connects.

2) Somewhere there's a disconnect between the originally rumored 12 price points for laptops, and the 8 price points holders mentioned in the Best Buy thread. Has anyone mentioned that in 3000 messages?

Iffy about tomorrow

As these news articles trickle in (the new macbook pro pic and the cinema display), I'm less and less excited about tommorow.

I'm interested in the Pro line of Macbooks, own one from February and I don't mind selling mine and buying the new ones. But I'm not sure what to think of this new design and I need a mouse button, I recently went from 2 to 1, which was a smooth and exciting transition (windows to mac), but from 1 to none, I'm not so sure about that.

What really is a deal breaker for me comes down to whether the new macbook pro's have the matte option (this will be the difference between a yes and no purchase) and the price point, the MBP's are really overpriced, if they dropped them to 1800 (in Canada) which would be 1700 in the US, with that 200 dollar student discount, I could easily dish out the cash for the Pro. But if the price point remains the same, I'm not too certain.

That new pic of the MBP and those price points really have me iffy about tomorrow. I hope those prices are wrong and that the mouse button is just invisible.

And I hope the recent change in the Canadian Dollar, thanks to the US market doensn't lead to a price increase!!

Hasn't the apple 23" cinema display always been $899??? so why is it so weird that a new 24" would be the same price?

I'm with you, but Apple really doesn't seem to care about OS X gaming.:(
