In Canada a coffee can easily cost $4 too, from Starbucks.

Nice with the Canadian plans - same pricing as US despite $CA now less than $US.

A large Starbucks drip coffee tops out at about 2.50 in the USA.

But I would pay 4 bucks if it got us universal healthcare.

I just want my Documents & Data back :(
I will stay on Mavericks, so I would like to be able to use the old iCloud rather than the new iCloud Drive. But I installed Yosemite Public Beta, and my account was upgraded.

Now I cannot use Documents & Data on my mac or my iOS 7 devices. So goodbye to my iCloud Whatsapp backups, among others...

They should fix it before 17th, otherwise it will be a major screw-up and public nightmare for them.

I just upgraded from the 15GB $20/yr. option to the 20GB at 99c/mo. (or $12 a year).

I just re-upped the 15GB storage a couple of months ago, so do they process the refunds automatically???

since i got the email from PayPal and not iTunes, i'm guessing you'll see the refund on your card, and maybe we'll get iTunes receipts in our emails eventually? I've noticed those don't come right away.

Does the new iCloud have an option paying yearly vs monthly ?

I was just going to post that. I wish you could pay yearly and not monthly. Don't like monthly bills - prefer to pay all at once for a year.

I pay my online backup service yearly ( this yr I paid 2yrs @ lower rate v monthly rate .. like 1.30 cheaper a month v month rate @ 5.99

Can you pay using iTunes gift card balance? If so, you can usually find them somewhere at 15 to 20% off - knocks the price down a little

That and if :apple: Pay will work too

What complete BS, 5 lousy GB is all Apple gives us?
The more Apple devices you have the more screwed you are.
I personally have 3 devices and am constantly fighting with iCloud storage. I REFUSE to pay a penny more for what should be free.

3 devices I can sign up for 3 accounts and get 15GB however since I chose to use one the screw me with just 5GB.

Here's how it worked last time I changed a plan for my family (pre-iCloud Drive):

I am currently on the 50gb + 5gb (free) plan (which renewed in August so I keep that until next August)....technically. I've been on this for a couple years now at the $100/yr rate.

I initially had the 50gb plan + 5gb (free) plan for my wifes iCloud account as well. However, about 3 months into that one I changed it as my wife was only using about 10gb's. We downgraded. The way Apple processed it was as a new transaction. We were charged for the new plan at a full price starting that very day. We were then refunded a pro-rated amount for the remaining 9 months of the 50gb plan. (around $75). This is on a credit card so it took about 4-5 days for that refund to show up.

That may be what happens in this situation if you do choose to change it. Personally I'm letting my 50gb plan ride until both iOS8 and Yosemite are out and then I'll switch it to the 200gb one and hopefully get a pro-rated refund again.

Pardon my ignorance... but does this cloud drive show up in Windows if you have iCloud control panel installed?

i bet Jennifer Lawrence is glad she can store more of her photos in the cloud now

so, the old way each family member created their own iCloud email and account to get the free 5gb each and we used the single iTunes account for purchases. basically just backing up their iPhones.

what now i say?

20gb is likely enough but how do we get all accounts under one roof. use the same iCould account and you get all the wrong stuff on wrong phones.

sorry, carrry on. later.

Just got refund

Mine renewed a week or so ago, and I just got a refund a few minutes ago.

Pretty sure I know the answer to this already, but when Family Sharing is enabled, does the additional iCloud storage get shared amongst all linked accounts?

This is the only reason i combed through the comments for this post. This is a great question. I will gladly pay for 200 GB or 1 TB plan if the storage is shared between family share users.

FYI, the next thing i imagine would be having an "iCloud" version of your iDevice's "desktop" and being able to log into that from any other iDevice if the owner of that device has enabled "guest mode". maybe we're too far away from that, dunno.

Just got this email.

We recently announced new, more affordable iCloud storage plans. As a thank you for being a current iCloud storage plan subscriber, we’ve upgraded your storage plan and you will be receiving a refund based on the reduced plan price.

Your plan has been upgraded from 25 GB of total storage at $40.00 a year to 25 GB at just $11.99 a year. You will receive a prorated refund of $1.69, which is based on the price reduction and the remaining months on your subscription. On October 1, 2014 this 25 GB plan will automatically renew and you will be charged $11.99.

We upgraded our storage plans so you can get the most out of our new features like iCloud Drive, which lets you store and access any type of file from all your devices. All edits you make are automatically updated, which means you’ll always have access to the latest version of all your documents.

If you need more storage, you can choose a different plan from iCloud Settings at any time, right from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC. Learn more about iCloud storage pricing >

The iCloud Team

NOTE: This annually priced storage plan is only available to current iCloud storage plan subscribers. You may cancel or downgrade from your device at any time. If you choose to change to one of our new plans, you won’t be able to switch back to this annual plan. You can contact Apple for a refund within 15 days of an upgrade. Partial refunds are available where required by law.

I have MS office for 10$ a month. This gives me all the Nice Office App's on 5 devices and 1 TB OneDrive

So 20$ for only the 1TB is a ripoff ##

Agreed, although not sure how you get it for $10/mo when it's $99/YR for 5 users ($20 each). For me, Office 365, $20 per year gives me full Office 2013 apps PLUS 1TB OneDrive. In effect, the full $99 gets 5 copies of Office 2013 and 5TB total OneDrive storage.

Apple wants $240/YR for just 1TB of storage. Yet another great Apple value.

Hmm when I go to Change Storage Plan its been changed to a yearly plan on new pricing...I didn't do anything on my part. I used to have the 15GB plan, its changed to 20GB $10.99/year now and they refunded me the prorated difference.

Wow...I hope mine does that. I need the 20gb on one of my accounts and would like the credit for my 15gb

I don't even know what I would store in the cloud. I use Time Machine to backup to a Time Capsule, and I sync my iphone and iPad to my Mac. iPhoto library is on the Time Capsule. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I guess I don't really have any need to keep all my stuff in the cloud, except for music, but that's part of iTunes Match.

i just bought the 200gb.....i originally selected optimize phone storage and delete originals but then turned that off.....probably not a good idea until ios 8 is live....my luck itll delete all my pictures and reset the servers right before ios 8 gos live.
