Calm your tits. Such misplaced anger and unnecessary name calling. Uber, Lyft, delivery services, EMS, law enforcement, the list goes on relies on mobile devices while on the road. While there are some solutions to keeping eyes on road/hands on wheel (heads up display, voice commands, CarPlay, bluetooth) physical input will always take attention away and in those cases you pull over or use best judgement that hopefully involves others not waiting/moving around you.

Just make sure the last text is a good one, ok? You don't want to be the guy who dies texting "LOL."

The SE is too cheap!
In what way can you possibly think that?

I think a lot of people will default to the iPhone 8 ... because the X is too pricy.

Still at these prices I'm seriously reconsidering an Android phone.
I genuinely think more people will go 7 based on the lack of meaningful new features with the 8. There's loads of 'technically better' stuff, but to be honest, you won't notice 99% of it in real world usage. I think honestly the 7s price point is where my psychological limit for a phone is, beyond that I just can't shake the feeling I'm being ripped off. Still, that's probably why they returned to a 3 tier model as they had before along with the extra X and SE options!

(Edit, should probably point out I'm talking about plus models)

I skip a generation these days and being a 6S owner, I am not sure the jump to the 8 is even worth it?

I may just bite the bullet and go for the X once my contract expires, although I suspect its going to be a lot more than the £33.49 I pay per month for the 6S at the moment :)

I tend to wait until the contract expires or is expiring, flog my current handset on Ebay and use that money to put as much down as possible as a deposit so my monthly contract is somewhat cheaper.

Apple still get their money and I am not shelling out £1k up front for something.

6S is probably being kept until they run out of the stock in the channel + components.
*cough* headphone jack *cough*

My guess is there is still a fair number of people within Apple that still wishes the Iphones released today had one.

After all that waiting, may go the 7 route now; it's come down in price, I like the aluminum as opposed to glass, don't care about geekbench scores, wireless charging isn't a necessity. Then see what the new year brings and how the X is holding up...and then pass the 7 onto the wife if I do move to the X.

m Iwaiting to see the price of the LG V30 in the UK :) I have had iPhones since 3Gs. Apple is just charging stupid money because they can. OLED has been out on phones for years and so has wireless charging. We shouldn't be paying for that tech to finally come to an iPhone they should be discounting the phone as an apology for being useless.

I think they made the iphone x too expensive on purpose because they ran into manufacturing problems and couldn't get enough units made. Next year with the manufacturing kinks worked out we should expect a cheaper iphone x.

I think Samsung charged them 4x more for the oled panels on purpose :)

Eventually they are going to have to move with the times or pick another phone manufacturer.

Too much product fragmentation. SE, 6S, 7, 8, X ???? Maybe if they didn't make so many different models, we could get an X before November.
Apple seem to have gone the approach to making devices cheaper by selling old tech.
They are creating artificial differences between models in the "Pro range"

X - dual camera dual OIS and oled
8+ - dual camera single OIS
8 - single camera OIS

All three of these cameras for their price should have dual camera, dual ois and oled screens, but then Apple couldn't gouge more profits with a $200 price bump.

X should've been $699. 8 is redundant and should've never been introduced.

Buy only what you can afford. Either way, you get a great device.
What I hate is buying an expensive phone and the thought of dropping it and it dying.
Thankfully I haven't cracked a screen yet (but still every phone I have had apart from the 3GS has been replaced by Apples bad quality control or longevity - duff batteries, duff cameras, duff buttons)

I watched the keynote, and can’t adjust to the odd bezel for speaker/cameras that also shows time/carrier etc for the iPhone X. Anyone notice when video is played in landscape that whatever should be on the far left of the screen is cut off by the speaker/cameras?

Design wise perhaps they should have foregone the odd cutout design, or have the portion square up when viewing video in landscape.

Just looked at the price of the iPhone X,
$1579 64GB AUD
$1829 256GB AUD
You have got to be kidding...

$999 USD = $1243.76 in AUD, add 10% GST = 1368.17 = $210 Apple tax, I see they have reintroduced the Apple tax.

Please please please please let there be many many many many iPhone X's. So many available that I can purchase one on launch day :)
$999 wish granted

That Apple upgrade program is looking very enticing. Thinking of paying off the remainder of my AT&T 6s and get my phone via Apple.

The 6s is still the best deal. Features on 7, 8 and X aren't really compelling enough.

I think the wireless charging on the 8 could be worth it over buying a 7 if you're planning to keep the phone for a long time.

I am going to upgrade from my 5 because the features of the 8 are finally enough to justify an upgrade. I couldn't say that about the 5s, 6, 6s, or 7. Wireless charging + bigger screen + Touch ID = finally enough to pay for a new phone. Any of those alone, and any other gimmick 'features' like 3d touch, dual cameras, etc. haven't justified replacing an otherwise functional device.

The 8 is expensive, but i can see 5 or maybe 5s users upgrading to it if their existing device is starting to die, but I can't see anything in the X that is worth upgrading from any phone. But that's just my opinion.

Am I missing something or does the iPhone X top notch not interfere with the screen when watching movies, playing games, using apps, etc.? There must be a solution here, seems like too much of an oversight - or Apple just doesn’t care.
No its only a 5.8" screen when you are not watching video, I guarantee that was not mentioned in the keynote.

I remember I used to have rose coloured glasses when watching the keynote, like an addiction, I wanted everything that Apple had to offer. Now I have lost the glasses and don't look at Apple in the same light and prefer to watch the 15m Verge version without all the fluff

False. Let's correct that untrue narrative. It "failed" once. Not twice.

"failed" because the phone itself seemed to be ready to use after a start up/reboot. More of a demo mistake and not software. You can see the text on the passcode screen. "Your passcode is required to use Face ID" no different when you reboot and need to use your code to use Touch ID.

You're welcome.

Nope. After a reboot the device will tell you to put in the code but "restart" is specifically mentioned. The error message during the demo is what you typically see after a few failed attempts.

Go and restart your phone and see for yourself.

Has the price of the iphone 7 changed in the UK at all? I'm sure it was £550 when it was released last year and its still that price now.

Ignore me. It was £599 when it launched.
