Am I missing something or does the iPhone X top notch not interfere with the screen when watching movies, playing games, using apps, etc.? There must be a solution here, seems like too much of an oversight - or Apple just doesn’t care.

I looked at Apples website and in all of there video examples the cutout interferes with the screen and cuts into the video/movie that is playing.

The very fact that Apple is currently selling ten different iPhone models show how Tim Cook lost all kind of perspective. He really needs to put his **** together.

Guys, it's the ****ing Gil Amelio era all over again. And Tim, asking those insane prices when the bar on the software side has been lower than ever? Gtfo

Someone missed putting on happy pants today. Variety is good. Android you can still get 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 from x number of makers. At least with iPhone you can decide how much storage you need, the price range you can afford and have a great secure phone. I won't be changing my phone for a while and definitely won't be getting the X because the SE is in my price range. Good for Apple! :)

I didn't create the thread bro...it's here. And there is nothing wrong with voicing an opinion and/or voting with one's wallet. If you don't feel like chatting about it, don't post on a forum...I didn't complain about any features (other than the old tired ones of storage levels and their corresponding prices). And, yes, I have tried diff storage levels. I'm sorry I offended you. All I meant was that some features make total sense to charge out the wazoo for, like OLED. But others, like a handful of storage gigs, are becoming more absurd nowadays than they were a couple of years ago.
You didn't offend me. I get what you are saying. I was speaking in general about what I have been observing on the forum. I wasn't singling you or any other person out.

To present a valid comparison, you must include gasoline costs and insurance for your fossil-fuel burning, earth-destroying, murder-machine, since you are tossing in "75-90 for an unlimited plan," to be fair. You cannot drive a car without gasoline and insurance.

Also financing a car and financing a phone are not the same. You are buying the phone with "financing;" the phone company is just giving you 2 years of 0 percent interest. When leasing a car, you are renting the use of something which isn't yours and has ro be returned at the end. So your comparison totally fails on all levels, even if it was true that a Honda Civic could be rented for $145/month (no idea if this is true.)

Better suggestion: if you lived somewhere desirable, and with public transportation, you wouldn't have to waste half your life driving a honda Civic to and fro, poisoning the earth, filling your tank with gasoline, buying car insurance, and leasing automobiles, and you could instead purchase desirable products like the iPhone X.

Also, if you have friends or a family, you need not pay $90/month for cellular service. The price of cellular service is also irrelevant to a discussion of the Phone. Presumably you were not just going to go without cellular service if you didn't buy the Iphone X, amirite? Right.

Even as liberal as I am, this gets a solid  from me.

Absolutely no interest in the X. Maybe an 8plus would be a good replacement for my 6S. I like the wife's 7plus and regretted getting the smaller screen.

do you also get upset cars don't have cassette and cd players?

Cars kept the cassette players long after they were replaced by CDs, and cars still generally have CD players that have long since been replaced by USB/Bluetooth.

Apple likes to replace things that are currently in use by nearly everyone and the replacements are not necessarily any better.

This has me concerned as well. People stare too much at their phone as is while driving, thinking they are the exceptions to the rule who can handle it. Now, we require them to gaze lovingly into their phone or it won't unlock...while driving... That could turn into a interesting legal precedent, introducing technology that forces the driver to take his/her eyes off the road.

Your comment sold me on the iPhone 8 Plus. I currently have a 6S and I do sometimes use my phone while driving to get directions, change songs, or quickly check email at a red light. I definitely want a larger screen. Face ID will be a giant pain to use to quickly unlock the phone for these types of tasks. I am also not happy with the storage options 64GB is a little small and I don't need 256GB I wish they would have stuck with 128GB. I remember a couple years ago when they tried to convince people that 16GB was enough storage.

If one wants to make the value for the money debate, that is logical and I can get behind that. At the same time, that discussion is subjective, for all intent and purposes.

And for status symbol, I think we may have a lot of school aged members here, and or a lot of adults acting wth that type of mentality.

I was raised to be thankful for what I had, and not complain when I didn't have what someone else had etc. And it does rub me the wrong way a lot, to see the kind of comments and threads I have seen since the keynote.

That's true. 99% of my phone usage comes from just a few things: calls/texts, internet (probably 90% right there), email, social media, and taking pictures. The X marginally improves on most those things at best. For instance, the HDR screen while cool, would be underutilized by me. If I'm consuming 4K HDR content, it's going to be in my home theater, not on my phone. Perhaps others may find value in some of the X's features where I do not.

I guess you think everyone lives in a metro area like you. There's a hell of a lot of people live in rural areas who grow the food you eat, process the food you eat, and deliver the food you eat. Yes, they all use petroleum to do these things. Without them you starve to death. Just one small example to prove your stupidity.

I probably won't. It's not a matter of affordability either, as if you look at my sig you'll see I bought a 2016 MBP for over $3k. It's simply looking like there's not enough value associated with the cost of entry. And I think you're way off base with the status symbol comment. The iPhone hasn't been a status symbol in years. Maybe for high schoolers it still is.

Funny thing is, to hear so many posters on MacRumors disparage $300-$500 Android phones owners as lower class people unable to afford an IPhone, they will now have to come to grips with the fact that the Iphone is not a status symbol and hasn't been for years. It's just one of the many brands of good gadgets. I'm an Apple person, been using Macs for over 20 years, and the elitism I see on this board is scary.

We kill our own food with our bare hands in my metro area.

I bought my 6plus on release day and have used it everyday since, it's incipio dual layer case has taken a few knocks and looks rough as hell, but the phone is still pristine, but it's getting old and starting to show signs of age, the battery life isn't as great as it once was, still last me all day however... Every so often it'll have powered its self off and rebooted for no decernabke reason... And that's it, other then that it has been a work horse for the last 3 years for all I know it'll last another three years and I'm tempted to find out, as I don't see much option for me come upgrade time.

Upgrade to a 6sPlus... well no I'd be better off with my 6plus and save the money.
Upgrade to a 7Plus... well no, I didn't do that last year so it would seem daft to do it this year.
Upgrade to a 8Plus... that's an option, a bit boring and samey, isn't part of get a new phone the new form factor.
Upgrade to a X... ticks all the boxes and empties the bank account in one smooth operation.

So much like I did last year, I shall ignore the hype and keep my 6plus and keep it going for as long as I can, sure I'd love a better camera and a faster processor, but I think I would be better served by buying a iPad Pro and keep my 6plus and save a bunch of cash...

I've never seen so many complaints about prices and Apple has always been over priced. This is just so insane. Apple opened the door for competition. Actually they broke the door down. Anyone out there?

I'm tempted to get iPhone 8, because clearly it will be the LAST iPhone with the built-in TouchID home button, which is mature, perfected and refined technology.

The FaceID is clearly not perfected and refined technology. Federighi demonstrated that. Maybe it will be in 2 or 3 years.

But is the iPhone 8 that much different (for the price) compared to the iPhone 7? On the exterior they look identical. Even the camera is the same? Or should I just go with the iPhone 7 and save some money? Is there a side by side comparison of features between 7 and 8?

I'm still rocking a lovely 6S.

The only 2 reasons someone would buy iPhone X is to show off or has no other major device to work with so it uses only iPhone for everything, only then I can somehow justify the pricing.. damn Apple's greediness.

I will be buying one and won't be showing it off. Guess what, there are more reasons than you comprehend!

What you saw was a phone that had not been set up for FaceID.

You should be in prison. E-mail while driving? Enjoy life while it lasts, kid.

What part of checking email at a red light is driving? I use CarPlay and request directions and change music all of the time...which is no different from using my built in car software to do the same, actually a bit easier.
