128 would have cost the same as the current 256. be happy apple doubled it for free. it's not like apple would have shaved $50 off the price if they stuck with 128

It's hard to say how the 128 would fit into this lineup because the base model is $50 more this year, but there's only a $150 gap between low end and high end. Historically, base has been less, but the gap has been $200, with a mid-tier in the middle. I wouldn't say apple "doubled it for free" since the 256 was $850 last year and is $850 this year (4.7" model).

Expect the 8 plus to be discounted soon after. Have to believe this thing is going to tank hard. Plus customers are waiting for the X, unless the plus is nicely discounted.

You might be right, I don't think the 8+ will sell that well, and it could be discounted once the X arrives, I guess the bottom line is to wait until the X comes o_O.

Same here - but I am waiting for the carrier deals so that I can swap my 6s+ for free

I have a 6s Plus and that would be sweet, also, I have a 5s that I don't use and T-Mobile is giving $300 dlls for an iPhone 7+ upgrade, from the 5 to 7, my 5s is not worth $50 dlls on the street, hopefully T-Mobile will do the same $300 for a 5s in exchange for an iPhone 8 Plus.

iPhone 8/8+ is the most boring iPhone upgrade ever. You basically get wireless charging at the expense of a heavier device due to the glass back. It weighs more than the 6S. So if you thought the 6S was too heavy like I did then you’re not going to like the 8. I think they should have used a lightweight polycarbonate. The best deal would be the 7s that are going to the refurb store due to the IUP.

Not much but on both my devices I'm a little over 64gb so certainly don't need 256. But if it's the same price then it's my mistake.

That's one mistake after another. Where did you get that 64gb was too small for MOST users? I have never come close to filling that much on my iPhone.

I've never really had any desire for a bezel-free phone, so I'm pretty happy going from a 6 to an 8. I think sales will be 'respectable' rather than 'spectacular', which is okay. It's nice to have both the X and 8 as options. Both are great.

I've heard a lot of 'X is the future, so you'd be dumb to get an 8!' That may be true, but nobody says you have to embrace the future right away. There's nothing wrong with sidling into the future with an old, comfortable friend by your side. Especially if your friend is cheap! Er. No, wait... I think my analogy might be falling through a bit.

Anyway, if we're keeping score, I'm one of the idiots getting the 8 and skipping the X!

You're joking right? They have dropped prices or bundled items twice in my memory, with the iPhone 1 when Steve decided he over priced it, and then with iPhone whatever antenna gate when they gave away free 1$ rubber bumpers. But please do wait so the rest of us have a shot at your phone.

Jeez, you say one thing and some fanboy comes knocking at your door defending a company.
As a consumer how do you feel about the "adapters sold separately?" I mean I already know what you would feel so do spare me another post but I'm sure you will anyway.

I guess everyone outside of USA is feeling the heat, at where I am at the moment the prices are 1,590$ for 256GB X and it doesn't even come with fast charger included, i didn't expect wireless pad but this is just c'mon?

Either way I do hope to see your long rant, just so I can not read it. Please do it :D

Apple has taken its online storefront down in order to prepare for the launch of the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, the Apple TV 4K, and the new Apple Watch Series 3 models. Pre-orders are expected to begin at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time or 3:01 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, September 15 in the United States.

In other countries, pre-order times will vary. Pre-orders kick off at 5:01 p.m. in Sydney, for example, 3:01 p.m. in China, and 8:01 a.m. in the UK. Apple has confirmed the time for the iPhone 8 and Apple TV 4K launch, and while the company has not listed a pre-order time for the Apple Watch, orders for the wearable device is likely to begin at the same time.

Customers planning to purchase an iPhone 8, Series 3 Apple Watch, or a 4K Apple TV should order early. There were rumors suggesting that supplies of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus would be constrained alongside the iPhone X, and Plus models in particular are often in short supply. There's no word on whether supplies of the new Apple Watch might be limited.

The 4.7-inch iPhone 8 is available in 64 and 256GB capacities for $699 and $849 in the United States. The 5.5-inch iPhone 8 is also available in 64 and 256GB capacities for $799 and $949. For customers using Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program, pricing starts at $34.50 for iPhone 8 and $39.50 for iPhone 8 Plus.

Pricing on the Apple TV 4K starts at $179 for the 32GB model, and for the Apple Watch Series 3, LTE models start at $399 and non-LTE models start at $329.

I'll be ordering the gold iPhone 8, even though I already own the 7, mainly because I need CDMA capabilities. The X is very tempting for its rad screen. But I'll have to skip this one. Having used the the Samsung S8 the last 3 months, I've come to realize that even with face recognition, retina scanning, and finger print ID on the back, the user experience sucked enormously for those who are used to the fantastic front TouchID of the iPhone.

Not true whatsoever. The engineering takes a long time and sometimes it doesn't leave enough time for manufacturing to keep up. Even if manufacturing has longer than normal, maybe yield rates are low so they're producing components at a lower rate. In other words, supply chain is still an issue even if they forecast correctly.

Tim isn't it past your bedtime?

I know bringing down the store is simply a marketing tactic but it's old hat now. You already had the 90 minute commercial, Apple, just put it up already without the added manufactured drama.

They probably need to do some Back end maneuvers to brace for the potential order surge. Probably bringing a lot more servers online etc.

Does anyone think X might drop in price come x'mas or at least have few things bundled in like say wireless charger or usb c fast charger? I'd be happy to wait a few months, but will I be waiting for nothing?

I think all but a lucky few will be waiting for several months. iPhone X pre-orders will probably break the internet.

I'm out this time. The first time for a long time that I don't want anything from Apple.
I'm curious to discover how many of us are in that category.

My area is huge fan apple , so kind of concern out of stock for pickup
, hope my turn still have left some ,,,,,

They are going to milk us for the Apple Watch, iPhone 8 & 8 Plus first. Then they go in for the kill with the iPhone X. Lol
Not many are going to buy both the 8 and the X. I suspect most of us who are going to buy know what we want.

Count from start >> how long it will limit stock for pickup ????
5-10-20-30 minutes ??? anyone know ????

ready for it

I won't be ordering an iPhone 8.

I'm going with the iPhone X.

I think over 90% of iPhone users will do the same. There'll probably be lots of leftover stock of the 8's. Like there was with the 5C.
