Done!

Wow, so easy with ApplePay - last year for some reason it wouldn't go through with my credit card till hours later and of course I had a very late delivery for the X. This time bam! 21st delivery...

Just ordered an iPhone XS Max space grey, 256GB, will be delivered on Friday 21st here in Germany.

So. Did anyone receive a confirmation email? And if you check under orders in your account on apple. Com. Does it appear? Mine doesn’t.

Got 2 stainless watches here.. gold for the wife with sport band, black for me with loop. I already have a couple sport bands so that seemed like a better plan. No phones though, trusty 6 series hanging in there.

Yeah already have e-mail.

This is the part where I go to bed worried that the credit card company will decide it's fraud.

I did even try to apply my $175 gift card from trading in my S2. I was afraid it'd slow me down, and it'd possibly mess up my 5% cash back. Will use it to get the wife a nicer band.

Finally got in at 8:04 after constant refreshing (does anyone even get in on the dot?) but panicked because I had to re-enter all of my details, was 8:07 by the time I got my first order in. Still got that 64GB Gold though. Then ordered a 64GB Gold Max. 21st delivery for both to my surprise. Haven’t gotten a day one delivery in 2 years so I’m happy, forgot how it feels which is instant relief!

CRAP!!!! went back to my orders under my account and my order isn’t there. Ugh

My XS Max order took about 5 minutes to show up in my Orders. Did give me a bit of a scare thinking my sleep deprived brain had not done it correctly. I should have taken a screen shot! But then it appeared, just like it was supposed to. ::grin::

I got the email. I think you need to give it time, if you got the confirmation you should be fine.

Took the App Store a bit of time to come up and I went back and forth a bit on in store pickup or delivery. But still got 21st delivery ordering at 3:10. I think they've got a good number on hand. Got Gold.

Almost immediately when I submitted the order I got an email alert and YES the order shows up online when I check. Sounds like your order didn't go through! I hope that isn't the case.

I got a confirmation email for my watch order. But like you, Apple Store app that I ordered phone through doesn’t show any recent orders. I also have appointment on calendar for local store pickup of iPhone Xs Max.

EDIT: just got my email confirming phone order. All good.

Guys, remember the days when iPhones were cheaper and sold out waaaaay faster? Seems like eons ago, but it was maybe only a few. After Apple killed off the heaphone jhack, Home button and now SE, I'm done with buying the latest and "greatest" from them.

Apple Watch Series 4 (40mm, silver) purchased. Good luck all and good night!

Apple has always added accessories on the store without taking the whole place down. So the act of adding products itself is indeed not a cause for going offline.

However, the products that are about to be added will create a big demand on the servers. So there has to be some sort of preparation, including taking the servers down for maintenance. Also, not taking it down means a lot of clicks within the store that ultimately end up nowhere (since ordering is blocked) yet create unnecessary load. All this while the stuff has to get ready in a few hours.

Remember, this product line will have orders in the millions in a span of few hours. On a website that has nowhere near the infrastructure of Amazon.com.

So, a period of “site down for maintenance” has technical merits. Whether 6 hours is really necessary is another matter.
No, that's all false, sorry. Source: Actually maintaining a web server.

They can allocate however much bandwidth they need, which they do for known spikes in traffic for things like this.
