Only thing? Not a fan of the 5k LG screen via single cable? Finally a retina replacement for the thunderbolt / cinema display.

Although the store has come back up and the only monitor on offer is a 21" 4K LG. That is a bit of a disappointment, sure Phil said 5K.

Seems to be hidden away on the UK store: http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/HKN62B/A/lg-ultrafine-5k-display

Wow pretty unimpressed.

No more air.
Cheapest laptop $1500?
$300 for a touch bar id never use
No new iMacs.

Anyone else feel like we were better off without this conference? I mean they called this for what? Apple TV search and a touchbar that looks counterproductive to use.

The average retail price of windows laptops is about $700. For mac laptops its actually about $1500. I get it, Apple doesn't really care about lower profit margin items, but they have a lot of medium even medium-high end ground beneath that $1500 that they don't cover particularly well. Maybe today will change that? Doubt it, but who knows.

Discosure: I'm perfect happy paying $2000 for a kick ass laptop that lasts 3-4 years.

I just read an article saying the average price of a Windows laptop is under $500.

Whatever it is... laptops like this are the reason the average is far below Mac laptops:

And that's why more Windows laptops get sold than Mac laptops... which gives Apple a lower share of the computer market.

Apple knows exactly why they don't have very much computer market share. But it's not something they are trying to fix.

Look at what was just announced today: the new Macbook Pro starts at $1,499

They're clearly letting the other guys fight below that price-point.

Agreed. Usually I find something I'm happy about. Not this time. The touchbar is cool, but not worth the extra money for most people. There literally was nothing else of significance.

Touchbar looks awesome, but man oh man, how expensive is the 15" once you bump up the SSD drive to a more reasonable size...

Wow i am very impresses, love my 2015 12" MB, but i will be seriously considering one of the new 13" MBP with touchbar.

Will have to demo one first though before i order one.

Thank god the MBA has finally been replaced, are they discontinuing the Air straight away.

Edit- Just seen the price of these, no chance, will be sticking with my MB.

Did anyone else feel like they were watching an Onion spoof video? Apple's presentation delivery has really fallen to a new low.

Can't believe they closed the websites for this no news. Just a touchbar? Imagine you use it. Move your hand from the trackpad to the touchbar, trackpad, touchbar etc. eyes from the screens to the fingers on the touchbar, screen, touchbar etc. I'm already tired thinking about it.

Ergonomic crap and overpriced.

Hello again, it's time to say good bye

Yes, all the energy that used to come with events like this are out. It felt like looking to an elderly home. Even Apple workers don't believe it... you could see and feel it. What a C movie.

Well this was a sick joke for UK customers...

Note to Apple: Price rises are not 'something special'.

Overall an extremely disappointing showing. This isn't a pro laptop for a content creator or serious Mac using corporate type. I'd have to purchase a $3299 laptop, $200 in adapters, and a new charger (AND CABLE!) for $79+$19. To get where I'm at now. horrible.

Wow, now you get even less laptop for even more money. The weird Apple decisions that went into this really makes this thing unacceptable.

Why the awful keyboard? I know they keep saying positive things about it, but I literally never heard anyone say that the keyboard on the Macbook is in any way nice. It's an unnecessary compromise.

Why the touch bar? Ergonomically it's a disaster, it removes all function keys, you actually need to look at it to use it. Also the "shortcuts" it supposedly provides are something that people who actually work with their computers know for a very long time.

Why the oversized trackpad? I literally only ever use like a quarter of the area of the trackpad. Sure, for people who use it for the first time it might seem like a good idea, but once you used it for a day, all you want is to crank up the sensitivity all the way up so you don't have to move your hand around.

Why USB-C ports? I already feel like an idiot for needing an adapter to use ethernet. But now I literally need an adapter for every single thing. I see the vision here, but I don't exactly see that vision on the horizon yet. To use that laptop I'd have to shell out another 200 bucks just to buy a hub with actual ports.

All in all, the rMBP I'm currently using will probably be the last one I buy. This is not a "pro" device, not in any way. Everything they added is simply nothing professionals can actually use.

Its a curious stance Apple is taking. Laptop sales are shrinking in the upper price ranges, but they have just thrown a HUGE price increase on their already expensive laptops. I was almost ready to cut Apple a check for the 15" MBP before it was even released, but $2400 for a computer a with 256 GB SSD? I'm priced out for the storage option I'd want (which is 1TB). So now I have to consider, do I want a laptop workstation from a Lenovo-type with maybe more RAM, cheaper SSD, even second drive, or can I live with a 13" and maybe a 512 SSD? It's kind of absurd that if I'm willing to spend $2500 on a laptop, I still have to feel like I'm compromising on something.

It appears Apple is doubling down on protecting profit margins rather than total profits when it comes to Macs.

Lets see how that works out for them.
