I think that store-update "surprises" would be better than any hardware-based keynote.
After so much disappointment it seems to me that Apple should do away with them entirely (they won't, I know).
I'd rather read about a product's updates than listen to cringe-worthy, slow-ass speeches on how "awesome" their products are or how much they had to innovate to revamp their manufacturing techniques or whatever or how many they've sold, etc, etc. It's all very self-stroking. Without Steve they should just give it up.
Leave keynotes for true surprises, completely redesigned software, or entries into new product categories, and let Craig F do the talking (I can't STAND to hear Tim Cook speak).
