Not exactly, most people who are ready and funded to buy an Apple product are simply going to wait for it to come back up or drive to a retail store.

I'm still not able to access the online Apple Store. I first noticed it down at 0445 hours (Pacific Time) and it is currently 0845 hours. I don't recall it ever being down for me this long.

I'm guessing this geographically specific outage is the result of some sort of botched infrastructure upgrade.
I doubt if adding new products would cause something like this to happen; they could simply put up the "be right back" sticky note graphic if that were the case.
I'm thinking more on the lines of moving some services/sites to their new data center in North Carolina or something else similar.

Has been down for me for at least the last 4 hours as that's when I first noticed. Not sure if it was down before then. Still nothing yet.

US and UK stores up bith from mac and iPhone.
There appears to be a new- well i have not noticed it before - express delivery option on the UK store site. So not sure if this was not some general maintenance that has overrun its scheduled downtime.
