well actually, there are rumors saying that once the AirPod lineup is diverse enough, it will just completely replace the beats lineup.
We have at the moment the regular AirPods, and the AirPods Pro, and we have rumored cheaper AirPods, sporty AirPods, and these AirPods studios. so eventually, AirPods will completely replace beats.

That'll never happen. Pods for people in the office pods and Beats for NFL/NBA hip hop crowd. Tim Cook won't be rolling around wearing beats much as Dr. Dre won't be wearing white Apple cans. It's about keeping it real and keeping street cred. Beats are dope and pods are nifty or neat.

My question is how they differentiate these from Beats?

There's a sort of guilt by association for those who hate Beats, that can be based on design if that is accurate.

Is there going to be completely different sound signature that doesn't overemphasize bass, that can appeal to the supposed mature high end consumer?
My prediction is they will Sherlock the Nura company that makes Nuraphones.

Nice specs on these headphones, but it seems like there is a competition and/or overlap between Apple and their company Beats.

I don't think people buying Apple headphones would be remotely interested in Beats, so they get customers that they never had before.

My question is latency... Calling these “Studio” and charging $350 for them is good and fine but can these actually be used for studio purposes. Has apple found some way through Bluetooth or other means to lower latency so people can use Garage band or Logic without plugging in?

If they have, I’ll be buying these for sure.

Apple's rumored high-end over-ear headphones may be called "AirPods Studio" and retail for $349, according to Jon Prosser of YouTube channel Front Page Tech.

In keeping with the successful AirPods brand, the rumored "Studio" over-ear headphones would significantly diversify Apple's AirPods lineup, which last added the in-ear AirPods Pro in October 2019. The supposed price of $349 would place "AirPods Studio" as a direct competitor to high-end noise-canceling over-ear headphones from Bose and Sony.

Prosser has previously accurately leaked the April 15 launch date of the new iPhone SE and, most recently, the May 4 launch date of the refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple's over-hear headphones to enter mass production in mid-2020, which may suggest a fall 2020 launch.

Have used Bose over-ear headphones for years (not noise canceling) simply because they were the most comfortable over my big ears/head. I tried a couple of Beats over-ear once they too had the Apple W1 chip so I could easily switch the wireless connection between multiple devices. Unfortunately none of the fit my head at all.

I really hope that fit wise the new Apple headphones resemble Bose instead of Beats

I bet they use WiFi for Apple devices to have higher quality audio.

I’m planning on getting these!

The noise cancellation will probably work a lot better than the AirPods Pro - definitely useful for me because I take the subway a lot
The subway? That was soooo February bruh. We won’t have subways anymore in COVID world.

Those rumours are from people who dislike the Beats brand, for "reasons", and wish for it to disappear because they think it taints the Apple brand.

It's a profitable and influential brand with considerable mindshare. It's not going away until it's uncool to wear in public.

I have my doubts about that, since the appeal of Beats isn't just in it's sound but as a status symbol of sorts like Apple products. I personally imagine they would try for an appeal to the more mature/wealthier consumer with Apple brand, while keeping the younger heavily sought after consumer with Beats.

I could see it possible that if Apple completely abandon the Beats line/name, those consumers 'loyal' to the Beats brand moving to a likes of Skullcandy or JBL.
First of all, Apple won’t keep around the beats brand if AirPods are diverse. Secondly, AirPods are already targeted towards kids. And young adults. Literally, go look at all the Memes. They’re clearly targeted to everyone, sophisticated or not.
Third of all, beats is not a well respected brand. They’ve had horrible headphones in the past, so they don’t exactly have the best reputation. Meanwhile, Apple has a great reputation when it comes to headphones. Obviously Apple has the most popular headphones with the ones that come in the box of every iPhone, then they have the AirPods, which is a ginormous brand. At this moment, AirPods are bigger than beats.
And once the AirPods product become more diverse, beats will no longer serve a purpose.
When apple bought beats, they had beats music. And then they had Apple Music. And eventually, everything was moved over to Apple Music.
It’s just easier to have everything under one umbrella term.

First of all, last year Apple made more money from AirPods than they did from beats. And if they diversify the lineup, they’ll make even more money. Apple doesn’t need any street CRED, they already know people are going to buy their products.
The Apple logo is way more recognizable than the beats logo.
In 2015, beats music became Apple Music. 2016, Apple introduced AirPods to dip their toe into the waters of premium headphones. And now that the lineup is being diversified, there’s absolutely no reason to keep beets around. Beats doesn’t have a great reputation, so the second that AirPods fulfill every market that the beats currently do, beats will be discontinued.
There’s no reason to have a BeatsX, then an AirPods X. Then a beats pro, and an AirPods Pro. And a beats studio, and AirPods studio.
Once they have AirPods at every price point, beats will go away.

The flagship radio stream of Apple Music is called Beats 1. It didn't exist before Apple Music launched. They didn't have to name it that, but they did, and for good reason. It's a youthful music-associated brand with a youthful audience, a subset of the overall Apple Music audience.

Beats isn't going away anytime soon.

those rumors are from reputable sources, people who know people with an apple. It’s not just some random dude’s on the Internet, it’s people with track records.
and Apple really couldn’t care less about how reputable the beats Brandes. They are apple, one of the most reputable brands in the world. They tower over beats

Beats1 is on Apple Music. It’s just another radio station. That name will stay. But as for actual products with the beats logo on them? Those will be going away. Not this year, but in the next couple years, AirPods will slowly replace beats.

What are conclusions based on?

No one is saying Beats is a respected brand, I am saying that Beats are a popular brand, especially with influencers.

With Beats at one time being 64% of sales you can see why Apple brought them. With Beats being the official headphones of the NBA, and NFL players getting in trouble for wearing them when Bose became their brand, you can see why Beats remain a choice for influential buyers. Apple's pod anything have not reached that level of brand influence yet.

True things may eventually move over, but I doubt with the introduction of airpods studio, the beats brand will just disappear.

Please explain.
Literally go read any review of some older beats headphones. Complaints of terrible EQ, over pronunciation of bass, reliability problems.
Then go and read some reviews of AirPods. AirPods are just more important to Apple, they have higher satisfaction numbers, they have better reviews, and most importantly, they’re associated with the Apple brand.

I never said that beets would go away this summer when the AirPods studio come out. But in the next couple of years, once we get the cheaper AirPods, the sporty AirPods, the regular AirPods, the AirPods Pro, and the AirPods studio, that is when the beats brand will be replaced.
At the moment, AirPods serves only some people, where as beats has several different headphones for several different people. Eventually when airpods get to that place, beats will go away, because it will no longer serve a purpose.
There is already some overlap between some beats headphones and AirPods.
