Ha...He almost had his own "you are holding it wrong moment".

Anyways, the dock seems like a decent option that I can use in my car. I like it better than the Belkin thing.

Usually when I need to listen to music while charging, it's because I'm mobile (e.g., traveling), and am using an external battery to eek out a little extra life from the phone. Incidentally, these are also the scenarios where I choose wired over Bluetooth audio (to conserve battery). The iPhone dock is not a solution. This is deeply disappointing.

On the plus side, there has never been a better time to buy a 128 Gb iPhone 6s (which is precisely what I did an hour ago).

I had one of these docks hooked up to my stereo to do exactly as he suggests. I get that its a solution. Its just not portable. I didn't need it to be so I didn't really care. Now I just have an AirPort Express for my stereo instead, no need to dock my phone just to listen to music (A better solution, IMO).

I think wireless adapters (like a Bluetooth Clip) are a good idea, but at that point I'd rather just get Bluetooth headphones (or AirPods/Beats).

I just had an image of Phil Shiller dancing around the house with the Apple AirPods...

Dear Phil,

We're screwed now that there's no way to charge our phone and listen to music at the same time. What's up with that?

Schiller replies:

Dear disgruntled customer,

We feel your pain. Just kidding! Actually, we feel our vast cash horde growing ever larger. Just buy this overpriced and bulky dock!

You're welcome!

This highlights one of the two fundamental problems with the move to lightning headphones. The second being that the headphones are not comparable with Mac computers.

If they would have been courageous enough to include wireless headphones it wouldn't have been as big of a sell in my opinion.

I feel like maybe Apple should've included free AirPods with pre-orders or something - get them out into the world for people to experience while driving up pre-orders without harming their bottom line too badly or creating the precedent for these to be included with future iPhone releases. This from a guy who wouldn't be upgrading even if they did, since I've got a 6S and can't afford to upgrade yearly.

I've never tried to listen to music while my iPhone is charging, never thought that was so common up until now of course.

Honestly, I personally prefer to keep my iPhone out of hands and out of use while it's charging.
Thought that was the best way to keep the wires from breaking and prevent overheating.

I never listened to music while charging, but apparently a good number of people do. Well, it looks like going wireless is the answer.

Welcome to dongle mess 2016... Either listen to music on BS Bluetooth 4.2 or pay to get what you could do before you bought a new expensive phone.

Love that there seem to be no DAC improvement in the iphone 7. So you still need to get a headphone with one to get any better audio quality over the jack that was there before o_O

Did apple miss the last 3 years where companies have been doing 24bit DACS, stereo speakers, water proofing and a headphone jack.

The third problem being they will only work on an Apple device.
