No, that is for the whiners who whinge about not being able to use their old 3.5 plug EarPods...

This is for the whiners who insist on charging while they listen with the new Lightning EarPods - http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F8J198/

Wait, so you have to buy a 50 dollar accessory that doesn't work with the lightning earbuds included with the iPhone 7?

I'm like Chuck from Better Call Saul...I will not be wearing wireless earbuds for hours.
That cannot be good for your brain!!!!

Aww man, Phil responds to that question... he must have ignored my heartbroken begging for a 802.11ac AirPort card on the 2012 cMBP :(

I use this dock at work. Its nice on your desk I bet someone will make a small dock/adapter that sits flush with the iPhone 7 when you are on the go. Kinda
Like the bottom of the iPhone 6S battery case.

Wonder why Apple did not offer a choice? I have plenty of ear pods, so maybe offer the dock using the credit for the ear pods reducing the price of the dock. Especially for those who use the iPhone at work or home while listening to music by ear pods.

Back to android I go, hopefully the Note 8 won't blowup when I decide to get a new phone (only partly joking) this 6 plus is serving me well for the time being.

During a long trip?

Yep - everytime I have a 3 hour train journey to commute into the office in London. I stick my iPhone on charge and listen to music, whilst I check my email and surf online. Keeping the screen active for 3 hours whilst listening to music and doing other stuff hammers the battery - so by the time I get to my destination my battery is dead and I need my iPhone to check google maps for my destination and tube routes etc. I like to have a full charge on my phone when I get to my location, so I can actually - you know, use it.

Whilst I see the need, you can add one more person to the not interested group as in the 8 years I have owned an iPhone I have not once listened to music whilst charging the phone.

Ha...He almost had his own "you are holding it wrong moment".

Anyways, the dock seems like a decent option that I can use in my car. I like it better than the Belkin thing.

I have the dock, just be careful because any slight movement will make it disconnect. I have a case on my phone but any slight bump without a case the phone will wobble while docked

In Phil's defense, when you have millions of dollars, paying an extra $160 for Bluetooth headphones or a $50 for a dock to do something simple that used to be built in and more convenient -- those probably seem like perfectly reasonable options. Especially since if you follow his suggestions, Apple and he stand to have even more money.

I don't know if I'm missing something here, but how many ports does that dock have? When you connect it to a power source, is there another lightning port available to connect your lightning headphones into?

Car use is the only valid argument with this whole mess. When I'm charging my phone, I'm either at work, or at home, both locations where I can either just use the speakers, use a bluetooth speaker, or use another device to listen to music (like my work computer). Luckily, I use Spotify (can't get iTunes on my work computers) so that's not a problem, personally.

Okay, so maybe you're out in public. Libraries, Starbucks, etc. If you're visiting these places for an extended period of time that would cause your battery to run out, you likely have another device with you, like a tablet or laptop to accomplish the task that brought you to the public place in the first place. Even if you're not. Even if you're reading a book and listening to music, it'd take a while for you to run out of juice.

The car problem makes sense, because besides the scenarios above, I charge in my car frequently, mostly to top it off from charging at home or work. If you don't have bluetooth, you can't make it happen without an adapter. But back when I had just a tape deck in the car and no aux connection, I needed an adapter. It wasn't the end of the world. I even used those wonky radio transmitters that pumped your music through a radio station. I needed an additional purchase to get the job done because I was using new technology.

I'm not saying this is an easy transition, but I think people are blowing this out of proportion. I can't see anyone who is charging and listening to wired music for a significant portion of their life who, with the purchase of either bluetooth headphones, a bluetooth car adapter, or one of these new Belkin adapters can solve the problem. Or the simplest solution of all. Just don't buy an iPhone 7. Get the 6S and wait for the 8.
