Apple's Plan to Launch Three New iPhone Designs Allegedly Revealed

This is doing the Vision Pro Monday morning QB thing here..

Nobody has any idea what "Apple intended" for the iPhone Air, but I really doubt it was to "dramatically cut down on orders in the supply chain" 2 months in.

Think about it ... if they "intended" this low demand, they wouldn't be cutting down on orders and would have planned for it in the supply chain to begin with.

Lol fair enough, but prepare yourself for disappointment. There just aren't enough of you guys, and the mini size doesn't sell enough to justify reviving.... If anything phones are going to keep getting bigger

I'll take the bet!
I think at some point, we'll get something ...

It might be a RAZR style flip? Or maybe a value phone..

But if things do keep getting bigger, I actually think it makes it more likely that something smaller comes around again at some point.

Just take what they learned making the Air and fold it in half! Like, not necessarily as a folding phone, just take half the components and put them on top of the other half and then put a case around it. I know it's not actually that simple, but it's not, like, impossible.
 
My last zero bezel phone was a Note 20 Ultra and it was impossible to type on because my palm would accidentally press the keyboard. I ended up putting it in a thick case so that I could type on it.

I hope Apple keeps user experience in mind with this supposed zero bezel phone.

People have no clue. There is no Steve Jobs back-up. The original team that made Apple great not so long time ago, left.

This is a juggernaut scrambling to make profit, but failing year after year...after year.

All latest products have very very poor QC, so called successes like the 17 Pro Max are just a smokescreen as we see loose screens and colour shifting iPhones, cause they cut cost.

Macbook Pro screens manufactured with micro scratches and dents.

iPhone and iPad screens making clicking popping noises.

They still make a crazy amount of cash, but nowhere near what they did a while ago. People might say, thats not true cause they make billions more every year, but all they are looking is a smoke screen.

Introducing a new product and leave it bleeding to death cause it failed. Example: iPhone Air, Apple Vision Pro, Homepods.

The smarthub and fold will fail too.

iOS26 is not uniform across the whole OS. They have no clue what they are doing. The liquid glass style was just made within few days by adjusting sliders. The true UX programmers know it.

Benchmark the new GPU cores with M5 you can see it takes a hit in performance in some areas. Apple did mot even mention numbers, you know something is rotten. Or if they compare it with M1.

I'd be very frustrated with the massive letterboxing watching video on an almost square device. It would also be centered along the seam. I guess photos would look a lot bigger. I still can't imagine ever wanting one. Let's see if Apple do their usual and make me change my mind.

This is reminding me of the iPhone 5 specialtion of the wedged design and other innovations only to deliver the 4S - It would be surprising to see Apple introduce a new form factory every year and create that many options in the iPhone lineup. The Air seems to have lackluster demand based on MR articles, so this may deter Apple from releasing purely cosmetic innovations like the phone with screen on edges, which does not seem to really offer any additional utility. The foldables on the other hand do offer new utility.

I do agree that at some point there will be diminishing returns on bigger sized phones. I was a huge fan of big phones and was excited about the 6.9" screen on the 17 Pro Max. I returned it within a week because the thing was just too big. I'm on a 17 Pro right now and am probably going to keep it even if I wish the screen was a bit bigger.

Of course the answer to even bigger phones is a folding phone.
 
Wondering how the bezelless 20th anniversary edition will work with a case, especially since the glass edges will likely be far more susceptible to damage than, say, a titanium bezel. Yet won't slapping a case on the device hide its most distinctive feature, kind of defeat the purpose?

I think it's likely the first folding iPhone, the all-glass 20th anniversary iPhone and even the clamshell-folding iPhone will still have USB Type C connectors with USB 3.2 2x2 20 gigabit/second transfer rates and charging wattage up to 45 watts continuous/60 watts short-term (aka. Power Delivery 3.2 SPR AVS standard).
 
I have zero interest in the Fold or Flip models, if I did I would already have the Samsung versions. The Anniversary edition I would have to see, but if its heavy like the Pro model then its a hard pass. I want light weight.

A screen that wraps around all 4 sides? What? I’m trying to imagine the benefits of this and wouldn’t this feel strange to hold?

I wonder how they will work with screen protectors. This curved edge design is old and they never worked well with screen protectors. Samsung finally ditched the curved screen and I can't see it going much better for Apple. It adds nothing to the experience either, I had a Pixel 2 XL with the curved display and all it did was result in crappy screen protectors lol.
