Because if you were you would somehow be forced to watch it? Do you watch every channel and show on television as well?

Well there's this:

Apple plans to heavily promote Planet of the Apps, with Cue saying "All of our customers are going to be exposed to this in one way or another." The show will be followed by Carpool Karaoke: The Series, another Apple-owned original series that is set to launch on August 8.

Which makes it a good time not to be an Apple Music customer.

Apple fanboy here but the new season of Sesame Street got me more excited.
However if Willy starts to explain the difference between object-oriented and pizza boxes, I'm all in.

Apple is already one of the world's largest distributers of (legal) music, tv shows, and movies, so original content is a logical move on their part.

Beats 1 is supposedly the largest radio station in the world. And Apple is a global company. A Shark Tank clone released world-wide would probably surpass the 5-6 million views the original show currently gets. It also wouldn't surprise me if one of their next ventures was to dive into the Japanese animation and Korean soap opera markets. Yes, MacRumors members would stampede, but it seems we here (myself included) are becoming less and less of a reflection of the wants or needs of everyday normal people

I consider this stupid show the ipod socks of the appletv initiative.

Rumour has it one of the female contestants has created an app which makes their phone vibrate and Siri exclaim loudly how much of a bloody idiot they are for shoving jade eggs up their hoohahs. Paltrow will probably down vote.

I just don't understand why they are using a music service to deliver TV content?

I am not interested in subscribing to any music service because I buy/own all the music that interest me (call me old school). I do watch a lot of TV and, if Apple wants me to view their original content then they need to create a video service that isn't tied to a music service I don't want or need.

It seems the people defending apple and shows like these are the new generation hipsters.
Paltrow, william, and alba? Mentors?

You cant make this stuff up, well except
Apple.

Actually Jessica Alba runs her own business and it's pretty good. You should research before jumping to a snap judgement

It's out! Guess how to find it? It would be on the For You or Browse tabs, right? Wrong. You have to search for it. What an amazing launch. I guess Apple really doesn't want anyone to watch this.

Video didn't even work for me. Just got a bunch of vertical pink stripes. Apt.

I didn't have to search for anything. I just clicked "Browse" and it was the first thing on the page. The video worked fine as well.

They all run/own their own businesses ... so they're there for an actual reason.

This show is incredibly boring. I don't know if it's the editing or what, but the flow makes me want to fall asleep. The concept is good, but it's not working for me.

Was able to watch it after a restart, still didn't show up in any tabs. Might be because I'm in Australia. I don't hate it as much as I expected. But it's definitely a cookie cutter reality template. OK to have in the background while working I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just watched the show, and despite all the negativity already spread here, I have to say that it was very enlightening. There's more to publishing an app than submitting it to the App Store.
To me, it was more entertaining than Shark Tank, and very educational too.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yeah, not interested. But yes, Apple is getting into this for good. The first ones are the greatest. I think they should hire some better producers.

Hmmmm will.i.am says it all, pass. Might have had potential had they chosen celebrities with a tech background ......pass

Probably the first apple "product" I'm happy is US only :p

Though I'm sure some people will like it. Let's see

Watching it now. It's not bad, but I don't find it fantastic either. Feels like your run of the mill cookie-cutter reality TV show. I guess it has merit in that it helps to raise awareness of tons of apps I personally have never heard of. Three out of five stars, I guess.

If the celebrities don't understand the product and pitch when the developer explains it, the investors would much less.
The panel had a good business background. Tech is useless unless it can be applied to the real world by non-technical people.

I'll have to watch a few episodes to comment, I just can't stand will.i.am personally, the man is so arrogant.

What was odd was that the kept bringing up that Google "just added share my location two weeks ago". Did everyone on this Apple produced show forget about Find my Friends being a thing since 2011?

Finally they tell the real truth. You must be supported by a venture capital firm to develop an app.

Small, independents are not welcome in the app store.
