Here's the secret: the refurbished store is Apple's last and only bastion against Android.

It didn't need to be this way. If Steve Jobs had not died, Apple would have exploded the iPhone into a 60%+ marketshare like the iPod.

I look forward to the day when Cook is deposed and someone who really loves Apple takes the reins. Goodness, there are so many of us here on MacRumors; are there any in Cupertino, I cry?

well going by that logic - the entire Apple refurbished store should be removed

May I, good gentleman, draw your attention to your own flawed logic?

It is possible that this is not a binary situation.

Good day, Sir.

So this is where all of the iPhone upgrade program phones end up...

Immediately you thought as well. Refurb iPhones come out year after the new upgrade program? Totally not a coincidence.

Granted, this makes sense since before trade ins were always done through the carrier, so it's not like Apple had my real refurb stock to begin with. Now, with the trade in program, people are trading in functional iPhones directly to Applez

Ahrendts needs to step forward!

1- Do they come on official sealed boxes?
2- If you verify the serial number online will it show the original release date or the refurbished one??

Apple refurbished always come in new boxes with new accessories.
The product gets completely scrubbed and the serial number is changed.
The products come with the same warranty as new and Applecare can be added.

When you go in the store with an issue, it's treated as a new product.
I have bought multiple products from the refurb store.
Never had an issue with service if I needed it.

Idk why people don't understand that Apple's refurbs are a GREAT deal and super reliable.

Quick comparison with Swappa....

Mint condition 6s 16GB (A1688) is $400-$420 and good condition is $370-$390 vs $449 + tax (if applicable) from Apple. That extra $50-$80 you're paying with Apple gets you a 1 year warranty.

Mint condition 6s Plus 16Gb (A1687) is $470 and good condition is ~ $400 vs $529 + tax (if applicable) from Apple. That extra $60-$130 you're paying with Apple gets you a 1 year warranty.

Might be worth getting 6s from Apple since it's only $50-$80 more for warranty, but not so much for 6s Plus IMO.

The Apple refurb also has a new battery.

A 1 year warranty and a new battery...def makes it seem more worth it

I'll laugh if this outsells iphone 7 series....

Apple had been focusing heavily on refurbished stuff as of late.

EDIT: At least these 6s have 3.5 jack.

That was one of the reasons I kept my 6s Plus, was because of the 3.5 Jack. Mainly to use it for music in the car while charging.

Indeed they do. Because if you spend few thousands on a notebook you would desperately be looking to save few $ on the refurb section.

Last I checked I was looking at over £200 for my setup.....now double that for the office....

Yeah I went back to my 6S . The headphone was not a deal breaker it was when I went out for a trip and I had my 7 and my patner my old 6S , we saw a big difference in reception using exactly the same carrier and plan. So disappointed they choose to save a few bucks on the intel .

I say finally. I always buy Apple refurbished iPods and Macbooks once I knew about the existence of the refurbished store. These things are tools, and having them in simple white box don't bother me, considering everything else is pretty much the same as the new ones, including warranty. The problem with Macs is that if you are looking for a specific configuration, you might not have much luck.

I hope Apple push this refurbished iPhones in other markets. It's one way to sell "cheaper" iPhones, I say.

Neat-o Apple-o... :)

Maybe not new, but new in Australia.... I guess the AU site will be updated soon. Even with exchange taxted on it will still be cheaper than buying brand new..

Plus, it will give users like me a reason to keep buying the 16Gig
