Here's the first one that I ever heard of: http://www.bing-vs-google.com/

If you don't want to have to decide who's best, you can always use http://www.dogpile.com/ which brings results from all of the big ones together at once.

Interesting link. Tried it on a bunch of obscure things I would normally search for and google wins hands down!

Personally I hope google manages to get apple off its duff and fix everything I have issue with on the iphone (mainly apple policies and I want to choose what best for me)

If the next os (or next phone) isn't earth shattering I will be heading to android.

Oh please, get off your high horse. Most Chinese, including political activists, want Google to stay in China. Even in its censored form, google provides far more and "edgier" results than the official alternatives.

So tell me, who should Google listen to? The Chinese people, who want options even if they are imperfect, or idiot Westerners who don't have a clue about China and want Google to leave to "prove a point." Principles are great, but when serving your principle causes harm to the people you allege to care about, its called stupidity.

Amusingly enough, if Google up and left China, the Chinese Government would be out partying in the street... along with you. Strange bedfellows.

It's a decent point you make if not for the fact that the Chinese gov't hacked Google to find emails of Chinese dissidents. Just because a certain population from China wants a Google there doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Especially in Google's point of view.

BTW Google isn't in this this for altruistic reasons. China has 1 billion+ eyeballs and Google wants them using their engine as much as possible. That is the same reason why Bing is still there. But can you really expect anything from MS?

The truth is that Schmidt wants them there. Sergei & Larry actually believe in "Don't be evil" and didn't want to be involved in China because of the gov't. Schmidt believed that it wasn't an opportunity that couldn't be passed up. For as rich as Sergei & Larry are, they are no longer the main power. It now belongs to Mayer & Schmidt. They run a company, not ideas or a belief system.

But labeling someone who disagrees with your arguments as some kind of blind cultist overcome with religious fever is disingenuous and unoriginal.

Would you feel better if we used "blind cultist overcome with
religious fever" (or probably more correctly "religious
fervor"
;) ) instead of "fanboi"?

Fever, fervor - same diff in this case. And use whatever helps you sleep cozy in your Steve Ballmer jammies at night. :)

You really should talk to a professional about your obsession with
Steve Ballmer.

Anyone who could even think of "Steve Ballmer pajamas" has an
unhealthy fixation.

Great, go enjoy your Dell already. The constant whining grows tiresome.

Or can it be that you still love him even though he dumped you? Ah, the unquenchable rage of the jilted lover...

Apple has plenty of flaws to discuss. It would be helpful if we could do so without disingenuous arguments and throwing the "fanboy card" at anyone who disagrees with your view (or your contradictory statements).

Like disingenuous intimations that I'm sexually attracted to Steve Jobs because I'm angry his top of the line computers and OS "feature" 2005 DVD technology?

Or ASSuming that I'l be spending my yearly $15,000 computer budget on Dell?

Start by practicing what you preach. Or ****.

I agree with most of what you said. And as a result of the "hacking incident" Google may well pull out of China - that remains to be seen. That being said, I maintain that Google's original decision to "play ball" in China was in no way "evil" as many here insist on saying over and over.

Did they do it for altruistic reasons? Of course not - they are a corporation, not a non-profit. They went in to China for the exact same reason Microsoft has, Apple has, virtually every company has - because it is a huge market. That's not evil, that's just business. I also recall when it originally happened, there was a lot of back and forth - and I do think the idea that, perhaps some version of our services is better than none at all - probably came into play. "Do no evil" isn't the same as "Do good" anyway.

The logic of some on this site just makes no sense to me. Apple selling iPhones in China and "locking them down" in accordance with the Government's demands is "just business" and is okay, but Google running a search engine and censoring it somewhat in accordance with the Government's demands is "evil." That's a ridiculous double standard if I've ever seen one.

The bottom line here is, corporations do not exist to drive social change, they exist to turn a profit. There are plenty of organizations to give your money to if you want to fight for rights in China, but Google and Apple aren't two of them. I think both companies decided the reward of being in China was worth the negatives. And I think both companies, to the extent they do have a political opinion, probably felt having their product available there was better than not, and certainly did no harm in any event.

Im not sure if people have mentioned this yet, but arent google and youtube one and the same now, since mid 09? in which case it might be a good idea to keep google services on the iphone.. youtube is well youtube.. when i think of Online vids (tv shows and well everything lol!) in the Uk i think youtube.. googles videos is pretty naff in comparison..

I do remember when bing was actually msn search, oooh boy was that a badtime! lol :)

Eric schmidt should hang his head in shame i think. I don't know much about him, or his business leadership antics. but reading some of the stuff on here, i'd be tempted (if i was the shareholders) to get rid of him. He has got google into quite a few pot-holes n doesn't seem to of gotten them out. see aforementioned google videos, the store isnt all that.. they are definitely best at search engines lol :)

I think you missed the whole "spurned lover" analogy.

Damn, you have a 15,000 computer budget? I have at maximum a 2300 dollar computer budget every 2-3 years.

I'm sorry but that picture of him as a pear is mentaly scarring.

...but I'm not the obsessed one who posted it!

If you want to desensitive yourself to pictures like that, search for
"hardcore gay bear porn" with filters turned off. You'll find things
that will make you forget about any Ballmer pics. ;)

But, maybe "bear porn" is behind LagunaSol's obsession with Ballmer....
He's looking for a daddy!

Probably not the best place for this Aiden.

Pictures would have been inappropriate, and probably links, but
merely mentioning what's on the internets should be OK. ;)

Your head is safe - procreation has nothing to do with this kind of "daddy".

Thats... [Awkward pause] lovely...

bioshock2.jpg

But Bioshock is better.

I missed nothing, least of all your backpedaling.

Isn't everyone... at least a little?

;)

NO. Why buy a cow when you can get free milk elsewhere? (Crappy analogy just for LagunaSol's benefit)

I've been very blessed and very successful. And Jobs should be impressed too, because I'm the tip of a very large iceberg and he isn't getting a penny from any of us until he coughs up Blu-ray.

It's pathetic that we've had to go to such lengths, and groused for so long. Apple is supposed to lead the pack, not trail it.

Truly, Cupertino must be like Hitler in his bunker surrounded by sycophants.

I'm sure he's extremely impressed.

Truly, Cupertino must be like Hitler in his bunker surrounded by sycophants.

Um, yeah, actually, Cupertino is a city.

I think your analogy meter needs recalibration.

In all fairness, it is open source. You can't argue otherwise, regardless of who it benefits.

In fact, Apple contributes far more to the open source community than Google does. I love the Google fans who talk crap about Apple being proprietary and closed and cite Google software like the Chrome Browser as an example. Gee, guys, guess where most of that wonderful open code in Webkit powering your browser comes from?

KDE :)
