I genuinely think Apple will drop the Pro line soon with the line up shifting to a more capable 'cheap' iPad and an iPad priced somewhere between the current Air and Pro available in multiple sizes from mini to 14". Or maybe the Air is dropped with just the 'cheap' iPad and a slightly more affordable Pro continuing.

There's just too much duplication in the line up, the 11" Air and Pro in particular.

The reality is Apple is selling less iPads while at the same time making more versions of them than ever. Some streamlining and focus is needed.
Apple could definitely be trying to reposition the iPad as the Mac’s lower end counterpart. The base iPad is currently the most successful one because most people still have some kind of main PC”, which makes it perfect for note taking, kids stuff, reading, etc.

If they make a much larger iPad below $1k and give it Stage Manager a lot of people will suddenly consider getting an iPad as their only computer and therefore spend more on it.

If you can spec a 14” iPad Air with 256gb and a Logitech or Bluetooth keyboard below $1k that’s suddenly more attractive. And some would even get the Magic KB.
