That's so big compared to the one Anker sells

And I don't like how wide it is, it should be a cube

Anker stuff is great. With an Apple family and all the Apple devices all over the house, I’ve been moving chargers into the higher speed Anker world with USB-C connectors. Now stuff can be charged fast all over the house and it is nice.

Already drooling. Not even gonna ask the price. I want it.

ChargerLAB today shared alleged images of Apple's unreleased 35W power adapter with dual USB-C ports, providing a first look at the accessory's potential design.

The images suggest that the charger will have a compact design with side-by-side USB-C ports, foldable prongs, and circular indents that would provide extra grip for removing the charger from a power outlet. 35W would be suitable for charging a wide range of Apple devices, such as iPhones, iPads, the latest MacBook Air, and the HomePod mini.

A reference to the power adapter was first uncovered last week in a document that was briefly published on Apple's website:In early March, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted that Apple was working on a 30W power adapter with a new design. In a follow-up tweet, Kuo has since suggested that the 35W power adapter could be the same one that he was alluding to. Kuo said the charger is "nearing mass production" and would be released at some point in 2022.

Kuo said the charger would utilize gallium nitride (GaN) technology, allowing it to be smaller, lighter, and more power efficient than silicon-based chargers. Apple released its first GaN charger last year in the form of its 140W USB-C power adapter for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, and third-party brands like Anker and Belkin also offer GaN chargers.

Back in 2018, ChargerLAB's sister website Chongdiantou showed off real-world photos of Apple's then-unreleased 18W power adapter for iPhones.

It's somewhat easier to plug/unplug them independently if they are side by side. When one is above the other, you end up having to grip one by the short sides if the other is plugged in. When they are side by side, you can grip them by the long side.
But it'll likely cover 2 outlets on a power strip.

I totally agree - for the US version at least - here in the UK it looks like Anker just stuck an adapter on the end of the US one! We rarely get folding-pin plugs over here, so the look of this does appeal to me. Pretty sure the price won't appeal to me enough to get it over the Anker though.

I had not seen that charger before. Looks great. Do you have one? If so, how well does it work?

I have an Anker version but it's not the really small one which I previously wasn't aware of. I do like the option of using an Apple Cord that's grounded as it's really helpful for worn outlets that you can often find in airports. I will just use my Anker and MacBook Pro for charging on trips. I do wish that Anker made something with more ports that's small. Perhaps 2x USB-C and 3x USB-A. My current solution was to get a few USB-C to USB-A adapter but the downside of those is that they are easy to lose. I mainly need a USB-A charging port for my Garmin watch.

I used to bring a Logitech Wireless USB-A mouse but the trackpad on the 2021 MacBook Pro 16 is good enough so that I don't need a mouse when traveling. I would also sometimes bring an external mechanical keyboard on driving trips, but, again, the built-in keyboard is good enough for traveling now.

There is some possibility that I bring the small, Anker charging brick on trips and use the Magsafe cable instead of the 140 Watt brick. I suspect that I can charge it at 20 Watts overnight. Fast charging is nice but the battery life is so insane that I don't need a high capacity charger. A 30 Watt charger (the one with the MacBook Air) would work as well.

Good grief! The article, the comments, the drama! It's exactly like an existing Apple power adapter, but with more power and two ports instead of one. This has to be right up there as one of the least exciting product rumours, ever. 😄

I don't get the excitement for this. There are high-quality, third-party chargers with multiple ports available for less out there already. Doesn't seem that revolutionary in the current market, but hopefully a sign that iPhones will be moving to USB C in the near future.

Isn't 35W a bit weak, but maybe it it's not meant to charge Macbooks? ?

Standard MacBook Air charger is 30W so this would actually be an upgrade.

In fact, I sometimes charge my M1 MacBook Air using a 20W iPhone charger. Takes longer but works fine.

Perfect for a stereo pair of HomePod mini’s, if it doesn’t power both together, it’s a bit of a miss. I use Mophie 3 in 1 travel for travel and a belkin boost charge at home so no other need for this product.

It looks quite similar to the existing UK Apple 20W charger, which also has foldable prongs:

Agree it's a really good, compact design - I even use mine to charge my MacBook Air sometimes. With 35W power output it'll be even better!
For the US, where AC outlets and power strips have rather closer spacing, it would have been good if they had sorta rotated the device 90° - essentially put the folding prongs on a short side (where the finger cutouts are) and move the finger cutouts to what are now the "top" and "bottom". We don't care if it stands a bit above the outlet, but if it even partially blocks adjacent outlets, it causes needless trouble.
