still hoping it’ll have interchangeable travel plugs.
Lol come on. This is Apple we’re talking about. You want your charger to work in three different countries? You’re just gonna have to buy three of their $100 charging bricks. That’s how environmentally conscious they are.

That's so big compared to the one Anker sells

And I don't like how wide it is, it should be a cube

Apple is a little late to the game and there isn't a value-add other than the fact that it "might" have an Apple logo on it.

Anker already has the market with USB chargers with a 65W dual USB-C charger and a 65W dual USB-C and USB-A. Plus there's a zillion dual USB-C chargers on Amazon.

I'm super stoked for this; finally having a wall wart charger from Apple that puts the ports FACING DOWN instead of sticking straight out means it'll finally fit behind furniture properly!

A grip indentation and rounded top edges… less likely to cause injury when trying to unplug? Cool. Why’d it take so long?

(Yes, I’ve been injured twice now, when my grip slips off my iPhone chargers and the top edge scrapes my fingers as they slide off, especially as they are still putting out force to maintain a grip)

Please let this be real, because that means someone is actually paying attention to human-oriented design, and not merely aesthetics.

Maybe, but it’s how all their more powerful chargers has been so it’s not an outrageous thought.

I’d be happy with the same design as the current 30W charger, with two USB-C ports.

Except that you are incorrect, and probably don't travel internationally.

Buy the world-kit all you need is a single Mac's Power-brick to work in any country; been this way for decades, ever since the Powerbooks and iBooks got the rectangular bricks. It even works with iPad bricks with the removable plug.

If you don't need the world kit, just buy an extension cord for the region you are traveling to.

Both the 30W and more powerful chargers accept international plug tips so you only need one brick.

An extra port in the world goes crazy. I could buy a charger with four ports from mono price for half the price.
And do those Mono price chargers support fast charging technologies?
Do they have the capacity needed to simultaneous charging of multiple high draw devices like iPads?
Are they UL certified?
Do they have a warranty?
Do they build quality of the ones by Apple / Anker or any of the ones sold by legit companies?

Wow, that's a lot of indirect accusations - did you take even the briefest of moments to research Monoprice before throwing all that out there? Google really isn't that hard to use. Monoprice has been in California for 20 years, they are absolutely a legit company, I've purchased from them many times over the past decade or so, and recommended them to others. Their cables and adapters are quite good, and they stand by what they sell. A lot of people in the tech industry have a warm spot in their heart for Monoprice - they first came to my (and many others') attention many years back as the place to go for good, inexpensive HDMI cables - they were selling very good cables for prices in the vicinity of $5-$10, when every electronics store was pushing people to buy Monster Cables for north of $50.

Monoprice and Anker have been my go-to's for cables and power adapters for many years.

Which country are you in? Did you ever use this UK Apple 5W plug?

Oh I know about the UK plug being tightly held by the outlets. I was narrowly, and (unnecessarily) snarkily, referring to the US one, but the grip indents make sense in the context of a consistent world-wide design so you are correct. I wonder how the UK version of that new plug, with its retracting prongs, will work.

EarPods would suffer the same fate. It can (SE1 user) be tricky sometimes to remove them if your hands of the connector are even slightly greasy or damp. Some horizontal lines in the indents would help a lot.

Gan (Galium nitride technology) is much better than what we have
Of course the main issue will be price. In this inflationary environment are people going to want to pay extra??
“Than what we have”?

Are we “special” and isolated from “the others”?

You can have any GaN charger out there my friend, just like the the rest of “them”.

Not many products come with GaN chargers yet. A year or two ago there was only one or two available even.

My iPad Pro charger is now my phone charger, since you know, it’s not in the box anymore. My iPad gets GaN’ned up real good.

Yup! That way the cables don’t protrude outward, but instead run flat against the wall.
Yeah, I don't like that. At least for me, most of my chargers/plugs go into power strips that are NOT perpendicular and never into wall outlets. I always hate when a plug has the wire going out the bottom.

You obviously missed that this is a completely different product we’re talking about here, with interested AC pins.

Oh please. There are folding prongs. Should each of them come with their own adapters to be thrown away or sit in the junk drawer of everyone's home who travels internationally once per decade... or lifetime?
