The funny thing is that Edge still hasn’t managed to reach the market share that IE still had (about 20%) when Edge was first introduced. Microsoft should have stuck with IE, evolving it under the hood.

Not too late until Apple gives up on WebKit and Firefox gives up on Quantum.
LOL, keep telling yourself that.

As it stands, I use Chrome on my Mac, and not Safari, for a number of reasons - one major one is cross platfiorm. Many of us use different devices, and Safari cannot help us. In many respects I find Chrome with its extension is just plain better then Safari.

Chrome % is quite scary, but I am actually happy for Safari, as Edge is built in into every Windows machine and they still dominate the PC market. Keep it up, Apple! 👍

My government workplace is really, really trying to increase uptake of edge. A lot of log ins or forms will only work with it. It’s all in on MSServices of course.

Wait… so this is all desktops (PC and Macs collectively)?

So Microsoft can’t even hold the edge on their own home turf? And this is even considering that eg for the large company I work in our IT department makes Edge mandatory and bans chrome. Well done, Microsoft

given how aggressively MS tries to push users to use Edge on Windows, thats kind of success
and turns out Edge is still mostly used to download Chrome lol
Changing vom Microsoft to Google 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I switched to Firefox on my Mac to support an open source browser as I don't like the idea of a specific browser taking over the world. I know chromium browsers are based on "open source" code, but when Google controls most of that through Chrome and leads how chromium develops it doesn't really matter.

Firefox on mobile is the worst experience I've ever had, so I have to use Safari there (which is fine, it's not chromium at least)

Chrome being number one doesn’t surprise me. Google is the most important player on the web and people regularly use Google despite its horrific track record of sharing data and even combing through emails.

I uninstalled Chrome years ago and use Safari and Firefox exclusively.
Either vast majority of browser users don’t care, or this Google sucking up one’s soul narrative, started as a marketing strategy, and is oversold in the closed garden. Same with operating systems with soul sucking Microsoft reliability holding around 75%.

Windows 10 started off well and made a lot of people happy. Then update after update it gradually turned into the turd known as Windows 11.

Same thing happened with Edge. It started lean and now we get pop ups, a billion options in the settings and this really **** Microsoft Start page that is hard to disable and is full of fake stories, click bait and conspiracy sites.

Microsoft only ever learn their lessons for a hot minute. After that they go back to their old ways of pushing out **** software.

Chrome is the Devil. Literally. Spawned in Hell, the demonic Chrome floods billions of computers across the Earth, filling them with Daemons and Hellfire. Watch your processor and internal temps after Chrome begins to rein over your poor, once innocent hardware. See? See?! It’s the Hellfire and Daemons unchained!

In a parallel universe, the headline for this article is

"Apple's Safari Edges Out Microsoft's Browser as Second Most Popular Desktop Browser"

It's funny , but also really disturbing fact that Chrome has so many commodities users
Have you read the privacy T&C of apps? Apple allows some pretty invasive apps to make a buck. So I assume they are clever in other areas

Windows 11 follows MSFT's tried and true Good/Bad cycle

I use Safari for my day-to-day and work, but I also use the Epic browser for my more, uhhh, shady activities.

It's privacy settings are fantastic - best adblocker I've come across and it doesn't track your browsing history, for example.
