DirecTV Now subscriber here.. Was able to log in with my att cell number and password.

How does that work? Your DirecTV NOW subscription is completely separate from your AT&T wireless account, completely separate username and password.

my provider is participating...so i input info in appleTV. but the tv apps still require me to do individual activations. just tried TNT app and NatGeo app. hmm...

I think they use your phone number as the master unique id.

For both my ATT mobile and Direct TV Now uses the same phone number in the account info.

I was able to log in SSO using DirectTV -> then my ATT phone number -> then my ATT password

Works!

I think what may be happening is that it lets people log in with an AT&T account, but unless you have a linked DirecTV satellite service, the AT&T account will not authorize any TV services.

Are there any apps available supporting SSO that we could use to test?

But does this actually let you authenticate into any SSO apps and unlock content?

Once you log in. There is a "get more apps" button, which launches the App Store and lets you see / download all the SSO apps that work with your provider.

It showed me what apps I could download that support SSO. It also shows that my SSO "account" is DirectTV.

I am at work. will try tonight on my apple TV.

How did you format the number? No luck when I tried.

I just logged in for DirecTV using my AT&T credentials (although I have only DirecTV Now, not the satellite service). I tried two of the apps that are listed after tapping the button (NBC and Syfy), but neither of them supports SSO. Seems not quite ready yet. But I highly doubt that it would work anyway, since there is no DirecTV service linked to my AT&T account.

I wonder if the updated apple TV apps are lagging compared to the iOS. I think i will reboot the apple tv tonight just in case as well.

Edit: I just downloaded the Travel Channel app on my iPhone. I launched it. and watched some Booze tv show and it was NOT in the "stream for free" section.

Note. that I see a "sign in" button in the upper right of the app but i did NOT sign in and I am watching a show that i believe needs signing in to see.

hope this helps

For those logging with AT&T Accounts (using DIRECTV Provider) I believe you would have to have their DIRECTV Service as well (not DIRECTV Now).

There are a bunch of Apps that support SSO and also The TV App but not ALL APPS yet. Like not all Providers yet. I think I counted maybe 10+.

Since AT&T bought DirecTV, you log in using your AT&T ID and password.

I actually tried the iOS apps. No SSO support yet.
During the Beta if you go into an App for Sign-in and it supports SSO it will ask you if you want to use it. Once you say yes it will be listed under the TV Provider Login on the Apple TV. I have 11 listed. I had to try all of them to find the ones that support it. But now I think once you sign in you can check for all that support it.

As it relates to the TV App. The App must also support the TV App. I think most that support SSO also support TV App. But SSO is not required for an app to support the TV App. Since my Provider is not listed I had to manually login to see them on the TV App.

If SSO is available in the app, you should see a dialog requesting access to your SSO account. If you didn't, you are not signed in.
