And supposing they did that and stocked up for a month THEN launched... How would that help get more units into people's hands quicker? Actually, if anything, it would slow things down as they wouldn't be ramping production up as early as they seem to be as theyd have no sales data to go off.

Sorry but it really irritates me when peole criticise apple for what has, ultimately, been a very customer-friendly launch, at least in terms of getting as many units as possible into customer hands as quickly as possible.

It is a lot to make. I understand that. I think Apple could probably only deliver 2.5 million per month. Physics just doesn't allow them to meet demand and you never will know what the true sales number could have been. I could see Apple sell a lot more than 30 million a year but they won't be able to make much more than 30 million.

That is just a short sighted numbers game. What is the point of making a few million iPads and keeping them in a warehouse somewhere? Apple isn't trying to get some high score in a 99 cent game, they are trying to sell product.

Not to mention the chance somebody released a true iPad killer while they were sitting on millions of units. Xoom already tried that.

And with 2.4 million with some form of backlight bleeding....

Let's hope the next 2.5 million fare better than this lot.

If you have an issue with your backlight bleeding....
Why don't you tell someone who cares...

I don't know like the peep standing just inside the door of your nearest Apple store. They'll probably greet you with a smile and direct you to someone who'll care even more than them.

I guess Ipad "culture" isn't well received yet. I think the number of shipping should be higher.

I work at the Apple distribution center in PA. We usually get the product 10 days before launch. There is no real sitting around with any of Apples products. As soon as we get it it's out the door within days.
