The best thing about tomorrow is all the tablet rumors can stop.

The problem is that a whole new round of questions will arise of course.

And no matter how great it is, there will still be mad amounts of bitching.

Very scary because its true and no matter how well crafted it is or polished it will be, there's always someone complaining.

Personally I would love to see the phone hardware providers get completely out of the service provider game. Being forced to use a particular provider based on the phone you choose is a bit lame. I believe in the beginning it was necessary as the market was developing, but enough is enough. Let the consumer choose where they get their service and stop with the games. :)

I am going to do dig the concept that Apple was smart enough to require this to need an iphone to access cellular data.

Putting a 3G or whatever chip in there to work with the cell notes just makes money for the cell phone companies.

Putting it in so someone has to buy an iphone makes money for Apple.

Seems like the easiest and most profitable solution for apple is to make it as easy as pie to tether to an iphone. This makes them more money because they end up selling two devices, and they don't need to have the hardware for it inside the tablet either.

I just signed up to this forum to say one thing. The IPhone and Ipad both belongs in AT&t and no other carrier, especially Verizon. Verizon is for business and old people. A globe and an apple look better together than an apple and a stupid check mark lol.:)

I would love nothing more than for Verizon to get the iPhone, and the tablet rumors to be wrong and Apple to be releasing a regular netbook .

And NO, the MBA is not a netbook. I am talkin' 10.1" screen, sub $500... Well I guess sub $500 + Apple tax = $600-700. BUT STILL! Netbook, not tablet, pleeeeeeease.

I'm waiting to see the new "creation" Apple speaks of.

I strongly believe it will be Steve Jobs doing a cool dance imo.

My Sprint Blackberry also came pre-loaded with all kinds of Srpint crap and other crap software i don't want. Verizon blackberries are the same way. do you want your iphone to come preloaded with crap apps you don't want and can't delete?

Verizon is also forcing all BB owners to use Bing. do you want the same on a VZ iphone?

I love the people that think Verizon still cripples or puts all kinds of software on their phones.

The only thing Verizon on my blackberry(which I bought a year and a half ago) is the default homepage is the Verizon jump-page, which has the Bing search you are talking about. But guess what? You can change it.

Everything else is stock. Verizon doesn't cripple phones anymore and they haven't for quite some time.

Oh and PS, Apple(or at least AT&T) is in talks with Microsoft about a Bing search deal for all iPhones.

You mean they are releasing a tablet? I'm pretty sure all this hype is about the new headless mac we've all been waiting for.

No doubt people will have something to complain about, as always...

All this anticipation is going to make the event unreal when the hour hits the clock. This is as exciting as that time I had my hand bit off by a shark

Exactly

Plus if people complaining about the network atm, imagine how bad it would be with a few million more Apple devices all with their own 3G chips. The data usage spike would all but kill most networks with all these people on their iTablets and then tweeting about it on their iPhones etc. (double data)

Tethering is the best option for both carriers (who already know the network load) and Apple.

Not years for Verizon next gen...

If T-mobile has 3G, then yes. Verizon has to wait for a few more years when their next gen service comes out.

Was talking with a Verizon Data Engineer a few days ago. Verizon next gen is not a "few years" away. Think more along the lines of a few months:D

I always love one-liners. Can you elaborate?

In Canada, the iPhone was originally available only on Rogers, and the data plans sucked. They are now available via Bell, and the data plans still suck.

While providers feel that there is ample growth under current pricing models, there will be little pressure to undercut each other until the market is saturated.

Steve Jobs is going to walk on, then walk off, in spite of all the spurred rumors and manically enthusiastic Apple users. Oops, I just started a stupid rumor...

Maybe Apple should buy Skype and create their own service

Monopolies = money. It's the way the world works, and will continue to work for businesses...

Your also forgetting that Verizon releases your information to third partys. About two days ago my cousin received this letter from Verizon stating that they will be release his information to third partys. The only way to stop them is by giving Verizon a call and letting them know you want your information to be kept private. What an inconvenience right? I should only call them to give them the ok to release my information, not the other way around.

Tethering isn't any less data usage though. There aren't more PHONES on at&t's network than there were pre-iphone, but there is more data being used. With tethering the phone is using that extra bandwidth. With the tablet being it's own 3g device it's going to use the same amount of bandwidth.

AT&T's capacity problems don't have anything to do with the number of devices, but the amount of data being used by all of them. Tether or not, the data is still being used by something.

I still don't think it's gonna matter. I think we'll see two tablets ala iPhone/iPod Touch. One with 3G and WiFi and one with only WiFi. Most people will probably use the tablet with WiFi and not want to pay for another contract. I'd expect to see tethering with the iPhone finally available which would make 3G on the tablet not really required. Then it won't matter which carrier you have as long as you have an iPhone.

That would be a good scenario for those of us who already have the iPhone. Hope you're right!

Hey hey hey, let everybody flock over to Verizon!

(1) AT&T will be faster.
(2) Cheaper plans to stay in business.

Win win win...

I completely agree! MBA is too big to meet Netbook standards. Bring back the 12.1". Perfect size! Especially for air travel. Plus, it closes to protect the screen. Think about all the accessories we have to buy to protect our iPhone as it is. Me thinks iPad is going to be more of a liability...

If you think about it...

AT&T wants Apple to launch an LTE iPhone with Verizon so AT&T can run commercials showing that their HSDPA 3G map dominates Verizon's LTE map :D
