WTF?!!

Snow Leopard isn't even ready to be shipped.

Both iTunes and Quicktime freeze and crash out to desktop a lot still.

The Os itself is stable, but not stable enough to be classed as even golden for christ sakes. And Apple have the cheek to say that microsoft rush their products.

I'm a ADC select subscriber and have been running Snow leopard for about a week now and have found many bugs that are noticeable if you dig deep enough.

However it is stupidly fast and my god are the boot times fast.
I tested iLife 09 in Snow Leopard erlier today and iMovie loads in a split second.

apart from the crashses from Quicktime and itunes Snow Leopard is ok but nothing Golden still. I'd still give it a good month before releasing it if i were Apple.

and yes, i know i have just stomped all over my NDa but what do you lot care? if you do care then leave this site you hypocrites!

You don't sound smart enough to be a developer. No offense or anything. It is definitely possible that the final version of Snow Leopard could be slightly different than the build you have.

Surprising that Apple released it earlier than scheduled. They must have a fair amount of updates for the rest of the year...

Usually not if it's the same build number. The only difference can be included software packages like iLife and drivers on install discs that are shipped with brand new models.

As I see it, not everybody yelling how much SL sucks must count. We never know when these people had their last clean installation (maybe during Tiger times), what kinds of tweaks and "performance enhancers" they had installed, and wether their machines once crashed will iTunes or whatnot was writing to disc. He might say now, that everything was of course clean as a white collar, but hey, he is also trying to sell, that he is under NDA... ;)

I have imported and tagged (including artwork) about 10GB worth of music this week on a clean 10A432 installation. iTunes was stable as ever.

I sure hope they take their time and get this right, I dont want a half assed OS, the age for that has come and gone.

I can't see a picture of a Snow Leopard on that disc, or on the Box shots on Apple's site and other resellers for that matter. Hmmmm

But this implies that the 'up-to-date' disc will ship on August 28th, not that the full upgrade will ship on the 28th.

Let's wait and see (and pre-order?) what happens... Still, $29 beats Windows 7 from what I know about their pricing for it...

I'm more interested to see maybe a quad-core or Core I7 based iMac with a terabyte drive. I'll be biting on that if it's priced less than the current top of the line iMac...

Just placed an order for the "up-to-date" disc, and I can confirm that it shows Aug 28th for Germany as well.

Why would they ship on separate days?

It's "Core i7," actually.

That's good news, hope it's still a smaller footprint even if I just archive and install, instead of doing a clean install. There's too much software to install to justify a clean install on a month old MacBook Pro wit Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Suite.

Guess that box art leaked a few days ago was fake after all. Pretty good fake, but the plastic sleeve was a bit strange and the text looked a little oddly aligned.

Oh, yeah, the whole 'i' thing. Still, isn't an i7 faster than a quad core? I've heard rumours that the i7 is insanely fast...

Anyway, the up-to-date discs could be different than the standard discs. I bought a MacBook Pro with a 'slip-in' Leopard disc that was supposedly a slightly earlier version of Leopard, or at least I seem to remember something about that based on the issues that people were having. I didn't end up using it as I eventually got the Leopard family pack and had an unused license that I put on the new MBP.

Anyway...

September should be a good month.

I chatted with Apple :D

Core i7 is quad core. Have you been living under a rock? Core i7 has been out for quite awhile now, and Dell and HP (not certain on HP) have it in some systems.

the fact that some people were charged yesterday is funny.

i used a visa gift card.

when i ordered the up-to-date from apple, my card was charged minutes after.

yesterday, i checked my card balance and the SL charge was REMOVED from the list of transactions. (and 9.95 credit was restored)

interesting. i checked apple.com and it doesnt say order canceled or anything.
