Apple's Ultra-Slim 12-Inch Notebook Coming in Mid-2015 With Silver, Gold, and Space Gray Options?

It's the 12 inch dockable iPad...

They're finally gonna bite the bullet and ship the 12 inch iPad with a Laptop cover.
It'll be the iPad Pro.

For you? Clearly yes. For me? Yup. For a lot of Uni students who are probably the largest market for it? No.

Laptops are tools. Just like cars. There's no logical reason they shouldn't come in a variety of colours.
 
As to colors, people color their existing MacBooks in all shades of thin sleeves like those from Speck: http://www.speckproducts.com/macbook-cases/macbook-air.html. My kid has what looks like a navy blue Macbook and I have a green one. There's also fancier skins like those from skinit: http://www.skinit.com/device-skins/laptop-skins/apple/macbook-air-13-3-2010-2013 and even a service that will paint the Macbook in many shades: http://www.colorware.com/p-250-macbook-air-13-inch.aspx (they will even paint different parts different colors).

Personally, I'm probably down on Apple deciding to play with colors on Macs myself BUT the third party market of sleeves/cases show that people do like colorful (looking) Macs. And Apple has been married to the color of aluminum for a very long time (they used to have white & black options that were pretty popular back in the day).

Why does anyone want a gold phone? Why does anyone want different colors of cars, clothes, or even something like contact lenses? Some do… so there's money in it.

One thing Apple got really right about this watch concept was not trying to make a single design for everyone. Many people generally don't want the same as everyone else. They crave differences.

I don't see them doing multi-colored Macs again. Not enough volume. Unless they make special editions on-line ordering only.
 
Yep, with an ARM processor. Also, Tap Pad instead Track Pad (think iPhone, iPad touch screen). No funky colors though, that's just dumb. Laugh all you like, just you wait and see...

As long as it's not shiny and authentic-looking gold but instead the white/metallic gold color of the iPhone 5S, it seems like people would use it. Girls especially would like it. Personally, I'd want a black one.
 
Apple sure does LOVE showing white woman in interracial relationships with black men in all their ads.

Don't think I've ever once seen a black couple in any Apple adds. It's always a black guy with a white girl. Give me a ****ing break.
 
I just dont want to see gold laptops. What are we? Pimps? Space gray however might look really good actually

Replacing a 15" rMBP for a Retina 12" MacBook (Air)? Excuse me, why would you do that, portability?

It's just that I couldn't see myself going to a smaller screen on a laptop.
