Would you expect Apple to sell a 32 GB iPhone SE (as the entry-level) alongside the iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus and 6s Plus each with 16 GB? At the very least they would have to shift all those to 32 GB as well. But if they wanted to do this, they'd rather do it with the release of the iPhone 7.

It would not surprise me if Apple used this event to drop the 16GB floor, and offer 32GB as the base model storage. They've done it before.

Please explain how it's a special edition compared to any other iPhone model? When I think about "special edition" product they are unique and also only offered for a limited time. I don't see that as the case here on either account.

As far as I know, Apple has never ever officially published the name the initials supposedly stand for. Not sure why we're debating it.

SE = Small Edition

Exactly.

How about iPhone Classic?
Another good one.

with a body measuring in at 123.8mm tall, 58.6mm wide, and 7.6mm thick.

imho they should really drop the numbers.. on the other hand, can't wait to get the indestructible iPhone 3210

IDK why they won't call it the iPhone Mini. I get that for years it wasn't considered small, but now it is. Time for my wife and about half of her friends to upgrade. My poor boss finally gave in a month ago and got the 6s. Too bad.

I'd buy a smaller iPhone in a heartbeat, unless the battery life were really terrible or the new two-lens camera were truly incredible and unavailable on it. Only someone in the NBA can reach a thumb to the top-far corner of a 6. I'd like a phone that fits in, not on, my hand (not to mention the back pocket of my jeans). I was playing with my daughter's hand-me-down 4 and I said to myself, "Yep, that's about right."

Loving this tactic .... make a news item every day claiming this new phone will be called every name under the sun, and then jump up and down stating how clever you were to get it right.

I'm not really debating what SE might stand for, just that I don't like it. Period. It has no pizzaz and very "every company" sounding. See my original post here.

When you get to double digits its likely going to be a year or word as the version because of marketing. Adding letters to a version name increases the time before that happens.

Still waiting for the Apple version of google glass, the eye patch.

It seems like they're missing out not calling one iPhone the See.

I'll probably pick up an iPhone Small Edition. I had the 6 Plus, but it was way too big for my pockets; switched to the 6s and still think it is too big for my pocket. I had the iPhone 1, 2(3G), 4, 5 previously.

new information pointing to the possibility of Apple dropping the "5" from the name altogether and simply calling it the "iPhone SE."

How can they "drop" something from a name that never even existed?? Apple was NEVER going to call it the "5SE" - that was a silly fantasy of bloggers and macrumors and others with no real knowledge of Apple plans, or even common sense. Never in a million years would they release a new phone halfway through the 6s lifecycle and put "5" in the name. Unbelievable.

As far as a price point the "same as" the 5c, I hope not. PLEASE let it be priced the same as the 6s!! A premium 4" is what I want, not old and busted tech.
