Or you can be an Apple apologist and pretend their prices aren't getting ridiculous.

Or the fact all technology is expensive now?

This will charge at least 3 devices in one go. No other wireless charger does that.

That said $99-129, no cable or power brick

Ugh. I'm less angry about the price and more angry that these things are called "wireless chargers."

You still plug them in the wall with a wire and your device has to lay on it. It's not like you can walk around the house and be connected without any wires like Wi-Fi.
You plug the mat in once. You touch a wire one time.

Then for the next 5 years, you charge wirelessly, just by putting your phone, watch and AirPod case on the mat. Without having to touch any cables. Without worrying about plugging in any wires. So wirelessly.

Are you less angry now that you understand you only have to deal with the wire once, and not the next 3,652 times? :D

Ridiculous price. It won't even work with the most expensive link bracelet band or Milanese loop unless you take the band off to charge.

Do you know that? Have you tried one?

I have a standard wireless charger that does charge an iPhone 8 one it’s Side - suspect Apple might have thought of this.

Holding out on wireless charging for so many years, and then bringing out a $200 charging station?

That's bravery, right there.

Way too expensive, but just like every other Apple product everyone will jump on it and buy it and there will be a backlog for months making Apple think they underpriced it.

Yep, takes courage.

If you buy three Samsung chargers, which is the best I’ve used, you’d spend more than that. And the matt charges three devices. So it depends on how good it is.

That is absolutely absurd given that Anker sells them for $25

There isn't anyone who currently makes or sell anything like this. Yes other companies make charging mats but the way it charges is totally different from this.

I get that it will be more expensive, since it can charge more than one device (most wireless pads are designed to handle one device).

But $99 is more appropriate, in proportion with other single device chargers, not $199. The "Apple tax" is getting tiresome.

This doesn't just charge more than one device. I think it also supports fast charging while charging more than one devices on the same surface, up to 3 devices. I think you can place the devices any where on the mat too. It's a first of it's kind.

Love how so many of you just believe these random reports, particularly on pricing. No one knows except Apple.

Chill.

You want cheap, use Android.

No thank you.

A $18 generic mat from Amazon will do the trick for me.

Some things I own I HAVE to have the Apple logo on for quality and dependability. A charger? Nah.

Besides having a lot of surface area, is there anything else special about it?

I mean it's Apple. Think of a reasonable price, add 50% to it and then you're still wrong. You'll need to add another 20% to that. It is a charging mat that can charge multiple devices, which is different from others but yeah, $199 seems ridiculous, however I'd assume it's real.

Does that apply to standard Anker/cheap ones with less surface area if you can put multiple devices on it?

“Agree with me, or you’re an apologist” is basically saying “I have no real point and rely on insults”.
Apple's pricing continues to grow. I'm not imagining it. I didn't say agree with me or you're wrong. But what purpose does pretending something doesn't exist serve?

This is how Apple gets you - Grant and Benjamin-ing you. You see this is only $200 and think, "Hey, that's not too much!" but next thing you know you have to buy a new phone that supports inductive charging ($700+), AirPods ($160) plus the inductive case ($70), and an Apple Watch ($330+) to even make the most use of this AirPower device. Next thing you know you are out almost $2000 to make use of this pretty coaster.
Man. All the hookers and blow with that money.

I’m
Sounds spot on for Apple. Getting so bored with them constantly taking the pi$$ with pricing. Don't forget to factor in an extra $69 for the AirPod wireless charging case, oh and that upgrade to the series 3 apple watch. Otherwise the only thing you'll be charing is your X/8.

Spot on!

I find it rather shocking the new Beats Studio Wireless 3 doesn’t include wireless charging. Not required but would’ve been nice to have and huge bragging rights in the industry for that kind of headset.

I didn’t debate that the prices were growing. I was debating that this is an Apple phenomenon. This is a tech phenomenon.

Seems quite high. I got the Anker for $25 from Amazon which has done a great job on my iPhone 8 for almost a month now: http://amzn.to/2xNTwdt
