You may jump to Google based on the price of accessories you don’t have to get?

Since you apparently aren't catching on to his real point, let help you out.

It's the philosophy, direction and actions of Apple in the last few years that he doesn't like. This is one of those "last straw" type of things. I myself am nearing that point also. For me it's being mostly driven by how they treat the Mac's and how they've had to openly talk about their design failure of the MacPro and lets not forget the stupid carrot they're holding out there for folks who love the mac mini, or their flawed keyboard design.

Apple is a phone and services company.

Ridiculous price. It won't even work with the most expensive link bracelet band or Milanese loop unless you take the band off to charge.

I just want someone to knock off the same thing with a qi charger on the right side, a hole for the Apple Watch charging puck on the left, and a Lightning dock in the center that can accommodate both the AirPods and the iPhone. Then cable management in the back to keep it neat.

Don’t want to upgrade my watch when the old charger is already wireless.

Don’t absolutely need wireless charging on my AirPods as I charge them much less often and I can’t even get the wireless case today.

Plus, the Lightning dock would be nice when you need a faster charge on the phone.

You didn't think they'd miss an opportunity to sell you new updated "Qi compatible" bands did you?

Wow. And here I was thinking the two Qi chargers Apple already sells in store were overpriced.

Anker is your friend. Best accessories for any phone that I've ever had. Cables are essentially indestructible compared to Apple's.

I appreciate the sarcasm, but I'm referring to the general price of everything Apple-related lately. And the current state of Apple Care for the iPhone is also a joke.

Things are getting more expensive all across the board for pretty much everyone. Or we can pretend it’s just Apple.

Things seem to actually be getting better for the Macs overall in the past year. The keyboard issue is one I imagine they’ll fix. Remember a couple years ago when they were pretending nothing was wrong with the Mac Pro?

The sad truth is, no matter the price there are fools that will pay that amount for this garbage...

Their cables are great. They don't happen to make a stand up Qi charger do they? I was planning on getting one of the ones from Amazon that I've seen for <$20.

We've seen pictures of it, but what are the dimensions? I'm thinking about buying one to put in my truck, in place of a couple of lift-out factory rubber cupholders. The cupholders are useless, since they usually pull out with the cup. I'd drill a hole and run the cord behind the dash, plug it into a USB power adapter and socket extension cord, then hook it into the fuse block with power all the time.

But, if it's really going to be $199, I'll look for something else.

If this is true, this is outrageous. Even if people are willing to pay 1k for an Apple phone they won’t be willing to upgrade as frequently as they usually do in the future with the new Apple exaggerated pricing. Apple might feel that effect in the coming years.

BMW’s price is absolutely absurd given that Kia sells cars for $12,000.

But seriously, Anker sells a wireless charger that can charge 3 things at the same time for $25?

That is absolutely absurd given that Anker sells them for $25

lol-- so i can buy 8-10 normal priced units for that. Great they can charge 2-3 devices at once. I can charge 8-10 for the same cost. NO WAY thats going to happen. Qi charged on amazon with free shipping as low as $12.

Well, the Apple Watch Charging Dock alone by Apple costs $79.

I think $199 for AirPower is possible, but probably wrong.

I’m thinking the AirPower charger will cost $139 - $159.

I'm amused...

...not at the price, but at people's reactions. Seriously did you not expect this thing to go for no less than $150? You seem new to apple.

Woah, I almost passed out when I just read that price. Someone fetch me a glass of water.

At most I thought it'd be $99, but double that? Apple just keeps raising the bar in terms of the insanity of their pricing. I couldn't imagine paying over $1,000 and then forking out $199 for a wireless charging mat.

Qi is that standard. They are not changing the standard. They are adopting to that standard. Changing the standard would make it their own proprietary standard. And they wouldn't call it Qi anymore. They might be developing things that will use the Qi standard to charge 3 devices, but they are not changing the standard.

They're working with Qi to have the standard updated. Sorry you didn't understand that. Didn't think it was a hard concept.

They stated at the keynote that they're working on making the pad Qi compliant.

Part of the magic of open standards is that others are able to contribute positive change that can change the standard with time. It's not set in stone.

I am no expert on wireless chargers, but what other ones on the market can charge multiple (three or more) devices at the same time? I thought $199 sounded quite reasonable given chargers that can only do one device at a time tend to be around $50-$60.
