People are (inevitably) going to butch and moan about the price.

Not sure why those people haven’t figured out that when Apple releases a product like this (based on open standards) it is a reference design and always a luxury item at the top of the market.

Wonderful. This is the new form of DLC or in-app purchases.
Yup, Apple "microtransactions" $199 is perfectly reasonable when you have a $4999 desktop coming up.
Lol, maybe we'll get lucky and Apple will throw in the 29 watt USB-C charger and cable in.
The airpods should've just been upgraded to the wireless carrier...

So..... I was wondering what I was missing in my other thread ...

iPhone X 256 - £1150
AppleCare £200
case £100
Charging Mat £200

Thanks Tim / Angela - my former tech company , now fashion company will set me up with a new phone , for £1650.

£100 more and I get a 27 5K iMac ...... Steve balmer is doing a great job at Apple... I mean Tim.....

As Tim said, Apple is not for the rich..... the others better get good credit

No thanks. That's almost as much as the Home Pod speaker. Lol.

This needs to be $99 or less.

I'm looking forward to when Apple sells a truly wireless charging solution. Place your device within 5 feet and it charges. I'll pay $199 for that convenience. As for the inductive charging of the 8 and X, I'll just stick with my USB-C fast charging.

Wow. I can get 15-20 cheap wireless chargers off of Amazon for $199. What are the odds half don't work and I still have a charger for every room in the house?

how would some random Polish reseller have any real data on this today? It's not set to be released until 2018. Anyway, $199 isn't unrealistic but this is just some random org spitballing.

edit: wow, the comments, people sure are quick to outrage on a rumor of so little probability.

Given a case cost $99.... the mat is a bargain at $199 if you only shop at apple ;)

I won't be buying one. Not sold on wireless charging as it is. Having to purposely place the device on specific points to get it to start charging and then it being ridiculously slow at charging. Really why bother spending $200 more when you can just charge using the cable.

If it can fast charge every accessories at the same time, 199$ is a must have gadget for those who has always charging 1-2 iphones or apple watch etc

This is the dumbest article yet. As if Apple would provide any outside company, let alone some random retailer, with pricing information this far ahead. I bet Apple hasn't even decided what they're going to charge for it yet.

Clearly a placeholder. This is worse than the stupid claims about Face ID component manufacturing.

Actually they had sometime back. I remember it being mentioned as the same price during the iPhone launch.

That’s a bit ridiculous, even for Apple... I don’t think that’s accurate, either. Something like $79 wouldn’t surprise me.
The Apple rule is to pick a reasonable price like $79 for this item and then add 50%. It will be $129.

And you have thought that iPhone X is already expensive. Gotta find way to make more money for a slow iPhone performance this year. Or maybe they’re just fooling with our brain then they’ll lower the price. All of the sudden we think it’s a cheap one and everybody will go crazy about. Then Apple will create a fake supply constraints and people be begging for for it.:D

Ouch. After learning my lesson with the 12.9" ASK, I'll research accessories more carefully going forward. For my lack of usage that was a complete waste of $.

Not surprising given Cook's :apple:. If I had to get a Qi charging pad, it certainly wouldn't be this one.

Oh my stars, that's nutty. Not looking forward to the price in Canada.

Seriously Apple are losing their grip on reality when it comes to pricing stuff. They are making it harder for me to keep up with them and I've been an Apple user for 12 years.
