iTunes had become a Bloated POS joke.
Don't know about new apps but iTunes should have died 5 years ago!

You mean this? I still don't get it. I think Apple wanted layers to Lion, like the mission control and dashboard were on a different layer than your desk top, and the linen was supposed to represent that. But why? That cloth texture they used for background elements always reminded me of cheap office wallpaper. There were some terrible design decisions involved in that screenshot.
Still legal to live in the boondocks. Still legal for certain companies to call DSL "broadband" while the FCC winks and nods. Someone's doing something wrong, yeah, but it ain't us boonie residentz... try knocking on some congress critter doors. Apparently things connectivity-related will finally change only when enough congressmen elect to buy or rent a weekend getaway tucked into the wrinkled terrain of places like foothills of the entire Appalachian chain where a) there's "spotty" (aka no) cell service and b) the net connection option is DSL or satellite.
Meanwhile Apple needs to leave us our iTunes local backup option, because even hillbillies like me may have 256GB phones now. WiFi-calling works ok over slowish DSL... iCloud backups, not so much.
That's the stuff. You mean this? I still don't get it. I think Apple wanted layers to Lion, like the mission control and dashboard were on a different layer than your desk top, and the linen was supposed to represent that. But why?
Agree. He was clearly important to history, but he wasn't perfect. And he had some terrible designs in his day. The Apple III was designed so terribly that it would overheat and not come back on. To me, that's a bigger failure than some keyboards. And of course, the entire Mac OS X Lion design. That's the stuff.
Anyone who says that Steve Jobs' taste was infallible is delusional.
Uh, no. When did iCloud become... "reliable"? It's *convenient*, so I pay the 99c a month to allow my phone to back itself up, but when it breaks it's ultimately not that big a deal as I back the phone up locally.
Apple services... just say no.
The original Macintosh came with a keyboard that didn't have arrow keys. He wanted people to use the mouse for absolutely everything, even when typing.Agree. It is reliable. I’ve been using iCloud backup since it has existed and regularly swap phones and the backup and recovery has always worked reliably. Always. It hasn’t failed once or given me any difficulty. It really does just work.
Ok I can respect that.I’m actually finding it very hard to look at. At first glance, I can’t even read some of the words due to the OS’s over use of textures. The colors blend too easy especially when it’s grey.
As for the iTunes icon, the 8th note should’ve been white like the App Store’s A. The glossy covering on some icons makes it look cheap; almost plastic like (I know it’s supposed to represent glass but it just doesn’t look right). Overall the entire desktop can end up feeling dirty and cluttered even though it isn’t.
Nevertheless, I guess we just have different viewpoints on UI. I’ve always a minimalist lover even before it was cool.
The linen texture that began spreading like wildfire in 10.7 (Lion) was actually introduced in 10.4 (Tiger) as the background for Dashboard widget settings.iOS was even more weird. The podcasts app had this weird old tape real to real thing. It was just a mess

I would actually be interested in seeing an entire history of that pattern. From when it started, to when Apple completely got rid of itThe linen texture that began spreading like wildfire in 10.7 (Lion) was actually introduced in 10.4 (Tiger) as the background for Dashboard widget settings.
Some people can't hold onto a secret. The need to share it drives them crazy. What I'm most curious about is: What is the benefit of the person leaking this? Are they getting money or something? I get reporters wanting to be the "first" with info, even something as mundane as this, but what's the benefit for the person on something pretty boring like this?
And we might squish some “free Apple Music subscription” when connecting the internet with Apple broadband. Oh, net neutrality is gone? Good, because Apple Music streaming will rock on Apple broadband. YouTube? Twitch? Not so much.Great... all I need now is some actual broadband. Maybe Tim should buy up some ISPs if he's so into service provision. There may not be money to be made in stringing the cable but once that's done, it's probably subscription heaven around here, including renting space in the cloud for "whatever" including phone backups.
Yeah good for you.It is reliable. I’ve been using iCloud backup since it has existed and regularly swap phones and the backup and recovery has always worked reliably. Always. It hasn’t failed once or given me any difficulty. It really does just work.
I remember how much I liked iTunes 1.0 compared to what was available on Mac OS 9 at the time. I would like to get that same experience with this rebooted Music app.

Exactly yes. High Sierra users are already forgotten. If I’m unable to or if I don’t want to update to 10.15 then I’m stuck with iTunes?
Good riddance to the bloated mess that is iTunes
