The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra (14”) is 5.5 mm thick and doesn’t bend. Not a chance it doesn't bend at that point

and it have it compatible with existing cases. duh..
I hope for lighter as well. But the reduced thickness means a smaller battery, which is likely afforded by the switch to OLED from LCD, so I wouldn’t count on neither a brighter screen nor a longer battery life.Sweet. Also hope the 13 model is lighter too with brighter screen. Hope battery life is stronger too.
There is no fascination with thinness, Apple has been increasing the thickness of their devices for many years. To me, thinness is a key feature for a tablet. I would definitely like a thinner iPad Pro.What the heck is the fascination with thinness?
I have an iPad Air 5 and it’s so thin it requires a case to prevent it from being bent.
It’s hard to imagine they won’t, unless Apple is switching to a titanium frame (very unlikely). The real question is will they be lighter?
…cause you did not pay up for APPLECARE.
It’s 28% thinner (something between 1/4 and 1/3) for the 13”, 16% thinner for the 11” (something between 1/7 and 1/6). Significant enough. I wish my iPhone would become that much thinner.“Much thinner.”
1mm??
What are you doing with them?! Seriously, I don’t think I could bend mine even if I tried.I’ve seen so many of my iPads bend. Ever so slightly, but enough to cause annoying lcd light bleeds on the screen which are permanent. I think it’s a problem.
It’s thin enough, but the weight can be a problem, especially for the 13”. If it becomes lighter, mission accomplished. It's thin enough. Leave it alone and pack some legit sizes batteries in these iPhones and iPads.
It's a ~15% differenceDo you know how small of a difference 0.8-0.9 mm is? 😀
So what is the logic here? They’re risking selling me a $1500 iPhone because it’s not compatible with my current $50 case? What was the theory when the Magic Keyboard (2020) was compatible with the previous iPad (2018)? And with the next one (2021)? I think a simpler explanation is that companies shouldn’t limit their new products designs around current accessories forever.…no, no, no son!
This is a nickel and dime operation!
We must always make tiny changes to necessitate all new overpriced accessory purchases - again
Anyone else tired of Tim Cook Apple?
Man this whole schtick is tiring and played out
? 😂they could have just kept it the same size and use the space savings for more battery and it have it compatible with existing cases. duh..
I hope it will finally toast bagels - Steve Jobs's never fulfilled promise for the iPod.I hope for lighter as well. But the reduced thickness means a smaller battery, which is likely afforded by the switch to OLED from LCD, so I wouldn’t count on neither a brighter screen nor a longer battery life.
Did you not read the Foldable iPad they gonna introduce first? Not a chance it doesn't bend at that point
The real question is will they be lighter?
