I travel quite a bit. so the backpack just goes through the rigours of travelling...but nothing stupid or extreme like sitting on it or anything. And then what? Are you sitting on your backpack or leaning back against it?
I carry mine in a Filson tin cloth briefcase. I have no fear of it getting bent.
I wonder if they’ll be able to not increase the thickness of the camera bump.

In contrast, my macbook pro is solid. So to give you a sense of the rigours i'm applying on to my devices... I don't baby them but I also don't abuse them in a way that is intolerable by a MBP. It's just that the iPad in my opinion is of lower durability.
I had this a couple times on my 14 pro max actually. I can be sitting right next to it and I see it light up, but no sound. Or alternatively sound for a second or two then stops (but keeps ringing). No focus mode and not silent. Never figured out why and then it just stopped doing it
Ugh, and I thought their obsession with thinness finally left with Ive. Ticks me off that they won’t use any extra space gain to add more battery capacity. That would actually make the product better. /smh
Apple is planning to update the iPad Air and iPad Pro lineups as soon as March, and the new iPad Pro models will be significantly thinner according to dimensions shared by 9to5Mac. Citing sources with knowledge of Apple's plans, the site claims that the larger version will be more than 1mm thinner.

The current 12.9-inch iPad Pro measures in at 6.4mm thick, but the new model is said to be 5mm thick. As for the 11-inch iPad Pro, it is currently 5.9mm thick, while the updated version is said to be 5.1mm thick. Both tablets may also be slightly bigger in size.
- Current 11-inch iPad Pro - 247.6mm x 178.5mm x 5.9 mm
- Upcoming 11-inch iPad Pro - 249.7mm x 177.5mm x 5.1mm
Such a slimmed down body suggests a notable design change, which is enabled by an even more significant update -- OLED display technology. OLED display panels are thinner than LCD panels, allowing Apple to cut down on the thickness of its tablets.
- Current 12.9-inch iPad Pro - 280.6mm x 214.9mm x 6.4mm
- Upcoming 13-inch iPad Pro - 281.5mm x 215.5mm x 5.0mm
Alongside the iPad Pro, Apple is expected to introduce two new iPad Air models, including a larger 12.9-inch version for the first time. The larger iPad Air will be almost the same size as the current iPad Pro, measuring in at 280.6mm by 214.9mm by 6mm.
Apple is limiting OLED display technology to the Pro lineup, so while the 12.9-inch iPad Air will be similar in length and width to the iPad Pro, it will be thicker because it will continue to feature an LCD display.
All of the new iPads are expected to have Apple's M3 chip technology, which was first introduced last year in updated MacBook Pro models. We haven't heard specifics about an event, but we are expecting something in late March to early April.

Why? Screen aspect ratio, sAMOLED display and it's incredibly thin at 5.5 mm. Thinner than my current iPad Pro M1 11", and the body design of s5e makes the thinness noticeable.
The screen is great, OLED truly makes a difference. The price was around $560, so it was a bargain.
It's great that Apple is finally switching to OLED on iPads. What is not so great is the rumored starting price of $1500, because of OLED. Samsung had it years ago at ~1/3 of the price.
I will upgrade my iPad Pro nontheless. The improvement in picture quality alone is worth it, and hello 5.1 mm!
I have an 11” 2021 Pro and all 3 Apple cases. If they work I might do this, if not there is zero chance. The last one made the cases a tight fit.and it have it compatible with existing cases. duh..
well, at least you're going in the right direction - it's easier to fit a smaller iPad into a larger case than vice versaI have an 11” 2021 Pro and all 3 Apple cases. If they work I might do this, if not there is zero chance. The last one made the cases a tight fit.
My experience too.interesting. the 11" already felt too light and too thin, to the point i was afraid to use it without smart folio. but then, if felt like a brick with the folio.
so my bet is this one will feel just fine with one.
If you think so it is because you haven't been paying attention of what Apple has done in like the last 30 years. This is Apple we are talking about bro .... backward compatibility it is RARELY something they care about.they could have just kept it the same size and use the space savings for more battery and it have it compatible with existing cases. duh..
