Even though I am an Apple enthusiast, I have had the Samsung Galaxy Tab s5e for a few (4) years now for media consumption with a 512 GB SD-card.

Why? Screen aspect ratio, sAMOLED display and it's incredibly thin at 5.5 mm. Thinner than my current iPad Pro M1 11", and the body design of s5e makes the thinness noticeable.

The screen is great, OLED truly makes a difference. The price was around $560, so it was a bargain.

It's great that Apple is finally switching to OLED on iPads. What is not so great is the rumored starting price of $1500, because of OLED. Samsung had it years ago at ~1/3 of the price.

I will upgrade my iPad Pro nontheless. The improvement in picture quality alone is worth it, and hello 5.1 mm!

Dear Apple,
Make it thicker, maybe 50% thicker. Us the space with battery that lasts..

We don’t want thin products we want ones that don’t need to be plugged in all the time 12 months later.

Same with phones. Add thickness double the battery power.

We also don’t care how it looks or the colour as 90% of us put covers on them anyway. I’ll take this up with you later.

Thank you for listening.

You. Not we.

…

All of the new iPads are expected to have Apple's M3 chip technology, which was first introduced last year in updated MacBook Pro models. We haven't heard specifics about an event, but we are expecting something in late March to early April.

So, the OLED iPad Pro
…
it will be faster
and will be brighter
it will be thinner
and likely lighter
it will be bigger
and let me guess—
unfortunately still—
will not run MacOS

I’ll go against the trend here and suggest that the 12.9 iPad Pro is too thick. It’s too heavy too. Anything that makes it easier to hold and lighter weight is a welcome update.

As to bending, let’s be realistic. Apple learned from the original iPhone “bend-gate.” The idea that they’d casually release their flagship iPad subject to being easily bent strikes me as knee jerk and not especially realistic. Will some idiotic “review site” end up breaking one by going to extreme measures to bend it? Sure. But so what? The bottom line is the the 12.9 iPad Pro is too heavy and too thick. Slim it down.

Quick pulse check for current gen iPad owners. How many of you look at your device and go: “hmmm I wish it was 1 mm thinner”?

Now, how many of you look at that same device and go: “I wish it ran something other than a glorified iPhone OS”?

Why not both? Seems like a false choice.

Not a chance it doesn't bend at that point
I don’t know… The current ones are pretty solid. But going that route seems at odds with replaceable batteries, I’m not too enthused about that. I’d like to see more emphasis on longevity now that the price has been hiked all the way up.

What are you doing with them?! Seriously, I don’t think I could bend mine even if I tried.
Put them in my backpack.
Push a bit on the middle and you’ll see the lcd distort even with light pressure.
My 12 inch iPad Pro is permanently showing that distortion now.
My 11 inch Air is doing ok but all I do with that is control stuff off protools.. then back in my backpack. So no real “use”.
