Don't know if this counts as an app but...

AppleTalk is no longer supported.

This means that you can't connect over ethernet to an old OS9 machine.

Any version of EyeTV other than the absolute latest 3.1.x? EyeTV 2 will not work at all and the update to 3 is a paid update, so your hardware is useless until you pay the ransom. I haven't paid the fee, but I hear that even EyeTV 3's latest version is buggy on 10.6, but that shouldn't be surprising as all EyeTV releases have been buggy in my experience.

OS9 has supported TCP/IP for a really long time. There should be no reason you need to run Appletalk to connect to an OS9 machine.

Can confirm EyeTV 2 does not work. EyeTV 3 does not work for me as I do not have the latest version. Does not launch. Can not comment on latest software.

Does always seem that Elgato are always after more money with lots of paid upgrades. Most of the new features are just bloat IMHO.

Not working: Sony Ericsson iSync plugin 1.2 (and the phone - W705a - doesn't work out of the box). I've contacted SE support and am awaiting a reply.

Edit: Figured it out myself; the /Library/PhonePlugins folder had the wrong permissions. I added "admin" with Read & Write and it's working now.

does onyx really not work? i upgraded and onyx is still in my application folder, and it starts up and everything. i just pressed cancel until it quit because i didnt want to mess anything up because i remember hearing it no longer worked, anyone know the story?

I haven't been using EyeTV for long. I have the latest version and it appears much more buggy under 10.6 than it did in 10.5. Unless I'm doing something to trip it, it suddenly starts "rewinding" in the middle of a show. Sometimes it goes to full screen or the menu pops up or closed caption turns on. LOL very annoying.

istat menus, esata, si3132, quicksilver all work now

As mentioned elsewhere, istat menus are updated, si3132 drivers from the silicone images site work, and quicksilver worked after deleting all and reinstalling. The last one that doesn't work for me is insominiax, but sleepless is a commercial program that has been updated and does work. Finally, I had a nice widget for running maintenance scripts that no longer accepts my password. Luckily tinkertool system takes care of that.
So, I'm now upgraded and all is working well.

Apple DVD Studio Pro 4 not launching on Snow Leopard

Newbie here,

Ran into something interesting today. Tried launching DVD Studio Pro 4 for the first time today since installing 10.6. It wouldn't launch - I got a message that my video card "did not support Mac Quartz Extreme," and that updating my video card might resolve the problem.

My system - MacPro 3.0Ghz dual core Intel, 8G RAM, stock Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT.

I searched the forums here and elsewhere and there was reference to this - from 2002!! So, that couldn't be my 2 year old MacPro could it??

So I launched 10.5.7 from another drive, and voila, no problems - DVD Studio Pro 4 launches just fine. I have not had this problem with any other Apple or Adobe app.

Not sure if it will be an update to the OS or to to DVDSP, but thought I would post it anyway in case others are experiencing this.

I have been using Onyx 1.8.5 with no problems whatsoever. However, I didn't get it from Archive & Install. Instead I did a clean Install, then used Migration Assistant to pull the app from my backup (on Tiger, not Leopard).

In fact, it has been useful in adding dual up/down arrows to sidebars.

I haven't been able to get this to work. In either direction.
Keep in mind that I have the two machines connected directly using an ethernet cable, NOT a router or hub.
I have since downgraded back to 10.5 but I'd love to know how this would work when I eventually have to upgrade or buy a new machine.

Hmm, I bought an EyeTV stick and it came with EyeTV 2, but I was able to enter my serial number and download EyeTV 3.

Yeah, I've lost the little card with the activation code, and so ElGato has said tough luck. I'd have to pay, and ElGato is all about the paid upgrades, no exceptions. If it was an optional upgrade I could see them holding off giving them out, but instead they're happy holding everyone hostage with broken software and now useless hardware.
This is one of the more infuriatingly amateurish companies I've dealt with. Their software is always buggy, and they can't seem to ever get it right. Last Christmas I got an obscene and racist email from them after their web support database got hacked.

I've always joked that ElGato has developed artificial intelligence in their EyeTV software since it has the unique ability to figure out the shows that you most want to see, and that won't be repeated, and then NOT record them. If something is a repeat, or will be repeated a dozen times, then EyeTV will record it no problem.

Got a new MBP w/Snow Leopard. Tried installing Maya 2008, to which it says it successfully did. Unfortunately, it installed everything but the actual program. I've read about this in other threads. Maya 2008, 2009, 2010 will not install on a new system with SL.
