Anyone familiar with IBM Lotus Symphony 1.3? It's actually a GREAT alternative to MS Office 2008.

Anyways, the installer doesn't work with Snow Leopard. However, to install, you can do the following:

1.) Mount and open the DMG.
2.) Right click on the "IBM Lotus Symphony.mpkg" item and click Show Package Contents.
3.) Navigate to Contents-->Packages. Run both pkg installers found there ("Lotus Symphony Install.pkg" and "xpdcoreinstaller.pkg").

And that's it! That should successfully install Lotus Symphony 1.3 in Snow Leopard.

I am really surprised the number of apps that have incompatibilities. Snow Leopard has been in developers hands for a long time. I wonder if this is just because of laziness of developers?
Yeah, I'd have to agree. There was no where near this number of programs that I had compatibility issues with from Tiger-->Leopard.

Maintidget

Maintidget is not working at all. It doesn't accept my own admin password. I uninstalled it with CleanApp and did a new install but I still get the message below.

FStream streaming radio app

Crashes on launch. Last update was 10/08.

edit: FStream updated to 1.4.4 on 9/1/09. Seems to work fine, now.

SimpleTask has not been updated for Snow Leopard...yet.

From their Twitter page: "@willgt09 Yes, we don't officially support Snow Leopard yet."

Edit: Update on their Twitter page: "We will get out a 1.1.1 release for the Mac as soon as it is done with Snow Leopard compatibility and sync improvements."

We have updated today, SimpleTask is now fully Snow Leopard compatible!

Paper Pilots screen saver says that it works with 10.6.0 but something is up with it.

I installed it, decided I don't like it, but it refuses to move to the trash can.

I had to actually use spotlight to locate the screen saver file and then get rid of it.

Two I found will not work:

Tinnitus Tamer 4
Loginox 1.0.1.1

The Loginox guys sent me this email:

"thank you for your report.

We have not upgraded our system to 10.6 yet. We will do it as soon as
possible and we will inform all the user on our home page when there is a
new version.

Sincerely,
Your Loginox Team"

Saft 11.0.2 does not work with Snow Leopard. It will install, but there's no change to Safari after that. There's no info on the site about an update, but judging from all the other Safari plug-ins I don't see much hope anytime soon.

It won't even open for me.

After some digging I found out version 1.0v2 is not supported by SL. I downloaded the free 30 day trial of Bento 2.0v5. The database from the earlier version is automatically transferred to the newer version, so no data is lost. The downside is I need to spend another $49 if I want to use it longer than 30 days. Hmmm....

Windows Live Sync isn't working. I tried installing on a clean install version of SL, and it says Install Successful, but I can't find it in the Applications folder.

Windows Live Mesh installs great, but it keeps logging out and in randomly. I think this issue might be fixed without an update from Microsoft, maybe it's a firewall issue?

I hope Microsoft fixes these issues!

InsomniaX won't load in Snow Leopard
and iAlertU crashes in Snow Leopard after the alarm goes off.

Snow Leopard wasn't in developers hands any earlier than its public release unless they signed up for a relatively expensive early access program.
There are a surprising number of incompatibilities and bugs in Snow Leopard that do not seem related to new features/functions. Many developers had no reason to believe existing stable APIs would stop working or change behavior.

Oh please, the big name app developers always have access to the developer seeds the fact that even Apple hasn't released FCS and LS 64bit just tells you that SL is still underdeveloped and it was rushed out of the door to keep up the demand and interest from customers.

America's Army 2.5 works for me :S
I've only just installed it too, never played it before!

Just upgraded to SL and was aware that iStat will not work. I thought I could live with it but now i'm missing this wonderful program:(

Docudesk deskUNPDF broken and fixed

Version 2 and 3 were broken by SL. A fixed version 3 was released today and their support folks were a great help. I don't know of plans to patch version 2

FCS is still 32-bit because it is completely and utterly reliant on QuickTime "classic". Making a 64-bit QTKit version would be a gargantuan task.
