They go away after a few weeks or after enough updates. They stay there because of the new auto update option, so you can go in there and see what's been updated and what has changed.

TIP: if FB's update hasn't pushed yet, go into the app store and search for Facebook. Click "open" and it will trigger the update. This is what I had to do last night.

Apologies if this has been posted or if this workaround is not necessary anymore, I didn't read through last 5 or so pages of the thread.

EDIT:
Didn't get the new Facebook as an update but when I searched for it on the App Store and hit "Open", it updated. Weird but Woohoo!!

nevermind

Well we got push notifications..that's a plus xD

You can't customize them though. You either get all notifications or not. I don't want notifications everytime something is reblogged or liked, but I want notifications when I get a reply or a new follower.

Guess I'm keeping them off for now.

The new eBay app is amazing but the icon is messed up :(

I still think the app store is overloaded. I haven't gotten anything new today and the Fb update never pushed through. I had to do it manually.

I am kind of surprised Instagram didn't release anything since FB owns them. The only other regulars I need are CNBC and Whatsapp, but I'm sure it will be a long while before they update. It was when the 5 come out.

So, anyone getting any updates today at all? I think I got one earlier and that's it. I know the store is having issues, but just curious if people are still getting updates (either via the updates screen in the store or by going to some apps they know have been updated and "forcing" the update from there).

I bet we'll probably see a lot more updates after the iPhone 5C and 5S are released. I'm sure several developers are holding off until the new ones are released, or holding off their iOS 7 only updates until then.

I'm sure by the time of the standard October Macs/iPad announcement, all of the major apps will have updated, including Apple apps.

As far as app updates for today, I haven't received any iOS 7 updates.

I don't really see why they would need to hold off for 5C or 5S--those people who get the phones will get the updated versions of those apps even if those versions were released a few days before.

It sounds like it's more of an issue with the store/servers than anything else. After a huge influx of updated apps over the last few days, not to see any or just to see a single one today seems quite strange (unless there's an issue of some sort, which appears to be the case with the store since even yesterday).

Sometimes just seeing the apps people post here that got updates is enough to go look for that app in the store, find it, and get the update that way.

Google Translate is updated. I didn't see this coming, it wasn't even optimized for iPhone 5 and now it looks awesome with the new design, loving it!

Edit: Also, it has handwriting recognition now, amazingly accurate but not fast enough :p

Hmm, it's just a theory. I'm not a publishing developer so I don't know the whole process. Considering that App Store has been pretty fine all day for me, maybe it's an issue developer/publisher side?

This is awesome. Finally worth having on my phone after so many years of it basically being boringly outdated.
