April 1 Ship Estimates are being "Prepared for Shipment"

Got the shipped email overnight with tracking info. Looks like it's just been picked up by FedEx in China, so movement continues!

What did people do before they could get up-to-the-minute updates from around the world on where their small consumer electronics item is? Probably just waited patiently and wasted none of the time I've wasted on this. :D

Haha, amen to that. But then you wouldn't of been able to meet a lot of interesting people thru these forums.

If I had to guess - the 64's require 2x32gb flash chips. They can ship two of the 32gb model vs. one of the 64.

My unit has been on the move - it was picked up at 7:42 AM (Mar. 26) from Shenzhen and is now listed as "in transit" as of 7:28 PM (Mar. 26), all origin times. Estimated delivery by 3/31 at 4:30 PM. Now, off to www.appleordertracker.com to update my info...
 
Clearly I've angered someone in the production facility in China. :( ;)

Do they work on weekends? I know Lantau Island can become a dead zone for shipping....

Someone else on this thread mentioned that units could already be on their way. I got my FedEx tracking number from my Apple order status and converted the times to destination times, to discover that my unit had actually been on its way since 4:42 p.m. (Pacific) yesterday, which was not too long after discovering the charge to my credit card. (It was actually picked up prior to FedEx receiving tracking information.) Hopefully yours is actually on its way to you now!

Curious though Apple email says "Delivers by Mar 30, 2011", whereas Fedex is estimating 3/31. Anyone know which is more accurate? I would guess Fedex, but my smart cover actually came a day earlier that Fedex predicted and it spent many days on LANTAU ISLAND. Here's hoping that doesn't happen again!!

My 32GB and yours are hanging out together it seems... same exact tracking info... mine is coming to PA. I also have a 3/30 date from Apple, but 3/31 from Fedex... I remember when I got my iPhone 4 Apple's date was the correct one. I think my SmartCover arrived on the same date Fedex said it would and it was the day Apple said as well. Either way it is great to see it moving!

64 gb ATT 3g black

Ordered 5:58 pm Pacific time on March 11.

Went to "Prepared for Shipment" on Tuesday night, March 22.

Got shipment email from Apple last night at about 11pm Eastern. Shipment email says delivery by March 30, but Fedex tracking indicates delivery will take place on March 31.

Currently at Lantau Island, HK.
 
I ordered my black 64 GB wifi model at 8:01 P.M. CST on March 11 (moments after finding out that the Apple Store was sold out of the model I wanted). I just noticed that Apple has withdrawn the money from my checking account for the iPad. My order status still says "Not Yet Shipped," but I'm guessing this is going to change very soon. I'm not going to make any guesses about when it will arrive, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Friday delivery at the latest.

EDIT: It looks like my iPad is actually at "Prepared to Ship." It's the iPad dock that is still at "Not Yet Shipped."

I ordered a black ATT 64g on March 12 at 11am. My order just changed to prepared for shipment in the last hour. My original ship date was April 4 with delivery on April 7. Maybe I will ge it a few days earlier.
 
I ordered March 12 on 8:45 AM PDT. It was a 32 GB Black Wi-Fi. It just went to prepared for shipment so I think that March 12 ones are starting to process. Apr. 4 Ship and Apr. 7 Delivery

Don't get your hopes up. I started this thread I think last tues. Mine is in TN right now, likely get it tues. You'll probably get yours the following monday.
 
Well my card had been charged (pre-authorization) but no sign of prepared to ship.

The pattern I'm seeing in the last day or so is that Black models are going out, haven't heard about any whites going out during this time period.

Mine has been prepared for shipment! That occurred yesterday shortly after I realized they charged me for it. Now I will get to see it arrive in my hometown just two minutes from and leave again only to return here for delivery! :(. If only I could show them how they could save money by letting me meet the plane here in Anchorage and just grab mine so they didn't have to fly it to the lower 48 only to have to fly it back up and then load it on a truck and deliver it.:confused:
 
My white 64GB WiFi is in the state!

Left Shenzen on Wednesday.
Had a day layover in Lantau on Thursday.
Hopped a midnight flight to Anchorage on Friday.
Got cold and skipped out that afternoon for an overnight flight to New Jersey.
Drove down to Marland today.

She's probably taking a respite in a warehouse tomorrow. Supposed to be a nasty weather day. Rain and maybe snow. Hope she doesn't freeze over.

Judging by previous shipping routes, I'm guessing she'll get routed to my local distribution center early Monday AM and end up on my doorstep that afternoon.

Then I get to open her up and put her through her trials. Hope she impressed me the way her older brother did. Otherwise it's off to Android land I go, with cousin 16GB WiFi to fill the Apple craving. (I say this as a jinx against factory defaults.)
 
Lantau Island has seemed like purgatory for a lot of people, but mu iPad skipped over it like it was a simple splash of fuel on the way to the US! Still expecting a delivery on Thursday, but at the rate it is going, I can see it maybe getting here a day sooner than that!
