Are iPhone X cases compatible with the iPhone XS and vice versa? [MERGED]

What with this stereo sound etc does the XS have a different speaker hole layout? I’m wondering if X cases with a full bumper type surround will need to be redesigned to cater for this.
 
also the camera module on the back is slightly large on the XS vs. the X by the specs. many cases that are super tight to the camera or have individual holes cut for the speaker will need redesign.

camera module on the back of the XS is slightly larger. apple is advertising separate cases for the XS vs. X.

i believe that's true although I don't think Apple is saying that for their cases as they don't want any gap around the camera shown.
 
Sorry if I missed this... Will X cases be compatible with the Xs? I would assume/hope so since this is just a "tock" update.
 
According to Apple.com, specs are the exact same, except for weight. One question I saw posed was would the stereo speakers make a difference in case accommodations.
 
No prob. Wish I could help more; I would like the same info.

I was hoping Apple.com would show cases listed as compatible with X & Xs, but no luck.
 
Identical dimensions, Xs is a bit heavier (following the S-model tradition of being heavier!)
 
LifeProof lists the Slam and Next cases as X/Xs, but the Fre is Xs specific, with “Notify me”.

Does anybody know if I could use an iPhone X case on the new iPhone XS? I've heard rumors that t might be troublesome because the bump of the camera would supposedly be bigger and thus would not fit... Anything true about this rumor?
 
You should but the only thing that will brother me is the cut on the bottom left of the iphone xs only has 4 speaker holes vs the iphone x which has 6 speaker holes.
 
Looks like it will depend on the case manufacturer. Some, like Otterbox and LifeProof, are listing dual compatibility for some models of cases.
 
I have the same question. The dimensions are the same of X vs. XS. So what is different? Read something about the speaker cutout at the bottom?!
 
Sorry if this has been asked 100 times already.
Are X cases identical to XS cases?
I have a cheap 0.3mm case I bought online, will the fit be perfect?
I know XS has identical dimensions, but
1) are the lighting port or volume button larger/smaller or tiny but moved?
2) is the camera bump larger?
Since I have a minimally thin case, the camera would not be protected if the bump protrudes more.
 
The dimensions are exactly the same. It should have no problems fitting. I wouldn’t buy a new case.
 
Here's a response I got from case maker Caudabe (https://www.caudabe.com/):
"Technically, the X version of our cases will fit the Xs. The only issue is that the camera and the speakerphone holes on the Xs have shifted ever so slightly. If you use the X version of one of our cases, the cutouts will seem a little off. It's not a huge deal, but enough of a change that we created new tooling specifically for our entire lineup for the Xs. That'll all be available on the 21st."​
