Are iPhone X cases compatible with the iPhone XS and vice versa? [MERGED]

I saw those cases, but I wasn’t sure if they’re based off the XS or just a rehashed X version with XS slapped onto the name. Also waiting for them to sell it on amazon since they tend to be half the price there.
I got the Spigen “thin fit” X case and it does not fit properly on the Xs the case pops by the home button.
I just got a Catalyst Impact case for the Xs I have on order. I received the case today and the box is marked "X" even though they say it will fit the Xs (I even emailed them). I'm curious to see how it fits. The speaker holes on the bottom don't seem to be a problem since the case has them on both sides, but I'll have to see how the camera cut out fits.

I got a Spigen 2017 Rugged Armor iPhoneX case and the speaker cutout fits fine. The camera cutout needs a tiny bit of coaxing to pop into place at the bottom and then it's also fine. If I hadn't rested it on a table and noticed it rocked a bit I probably wouldn't have noticed at all... i used it all night tonight without checking the fit on the camera bump and didn't have any issue.

I’m using the speck presidio grip and the camera fits, but doesn’t look well aligned.
I have the "new" Spigen Rugged Armour and it fits but the camera cutout is a little off and the cutouts on the left hand side next to the charging port do not line up. Seems like they need to do a little adjusting with the cutouts.
So to recap, is the main difference in slightly different placement of the camera protrusion between the X and XS? I'm about to order a case for my XS but the one I am looking at is only available with X sizing so I'm wondering if I can make it fit my X with either tiny bit of dremel work or just by having a small gap.
Drats... I'm really annoyed the Orange and Pink Fuchsia weren't released for the XS.
heavier is better always... rather have it solid feeling piece of metal rather than something flying off my hands... think IPhone 5.
Those who have a X, how does the XS silicone case fit on the X? The X silicone cases are starting to dwindle and I figure if worse comes to worse, I can always get a XS case but am just curious if there's a noticeable difference.
Picked up a pacific green case off a sketchy seller off eBay who claims it’s real for $12 bucks along with an ultraviolet and hibiscus. Will post photos.. although I have a feeling these are going to be fakes.
