Are iPhone X cases compatible with the iPhone XS and vice versa? [MERGED]

My Current iPhone X case has the same spacing as shown in the video, like exactly. So either the cases have a degree of variability or something else is off.
Do you think the gap would cause a big issue with grit getting in etc ? Is it that big ?
Was it an Apple made case? Mine Apple Leather case for X (like in the MKBHD vid) fits my X perfectly. Some cases form third party manufacturers do claim compatibility with X and XS. So it may depend on the type of case?
If you have an Apple made case and the camera module isn't flush with the hole then that's pretty shocking on Apple's part.
Maybe the magnets that 'open to wake' have changed position for XS?
Yes, it is big enough for grit to get in. However, I tend to find grit gets all around the inside of the case every now and again when I remove the case. I simply wipe it with a lens cloth to prevent scratching (especially on the stainless steel edges) and it is all gone. It has never really, or noticeably, scratched the glass.

I would think that if your case has a large camera opening vs a tight fitting one (like an Apple case), you'd be ok. I'll be a little miffed to have to buy a second Midnight Blue case now, though.
I’ve ordered a new XS case that comes tomorrow. If it does happen to fit my old X case, great. I’ll return the XS case Unopened.
The space we are talking about here is very very small. I have a boatload of X cases (battery case, leather case, folio case, light duty, heavy duty, medium duty, waterproof) - Depends on the occasion. Anything that doesn't fit on my Xs will get a little work with a file and/or my dremel.
Yes... I also wanna try to make it work... I just love the color and design, so it is worth a shot...
I stopped by the Apple store near my house and was able to get one of their last electric blue iphone X cases.. Hoping it fits on the Xs, guess well find out tomorrow. Worst case scenario it goes back and I pick up a saddle brown instead. Love the electric blue color though.. really hope it works.
I read somewhere in the last couple of days the Hall Effect sensors have moved, so the Folios for the X and XS shouldn’t be interchangeable.

Ok having just got my XS, I can confirm that the Silicone Cases for the X do fit the XS, just theres a slight imperfection, but it "fits" without effort to put it in and theres no camera obstruction. The difference is "minimal" I really think people would have to go out of their way to see it, so don't worry about it.
Happy that I got that Lemonade coloured Silicone case sure is a lot more vivid and fun compared the XS' muted toned down colours

To anyone (in Australia especially where we are going into Spring/summer), that wants a Spring themed iPhone X case for their new XS, nows your last chance. They may not be on the shelves/display anymore, but they should be out the back (was the case here in Sydney) for another few days
Still restoring from backup on my iPhone Xs but any word if the iPhone X cases works with iPhone Xs?
Did anyone get the “new” Spigen cases? I bought the iPhone X ultra hybrid case last month thinking it would fit. And unfortunately it doesn’t but Spigen apparently came out with a new line of the XS cases so I’m curious to see if those are the new dimensions for the XS camera module.
