Well I had the 2016 Touch-bar MacBook Pro and the 2017 Touch-bar MacBook Pro and I feel the 2017 is better. The 2017 runs cooler I notice when I am just using it for day to day stuff and when I use it with Lightroom it does not spin up the fans so much. Also the battery life has slightly improved.

I was merely highlighting the notion that you were proudly displaying in your sig as owning a 2017 15" Pro, but appeared confused that the 2017 Pro was released earlier this month. Perhaps you've been away on Brodo Asogi or something.

Also you know a 2016 MBP purchased in 2017 is not a 2017 model right?
Yes, which is why I asked what the difference between the two was!
Also, I did not edit my sig, because at the time, I thought I would keep the 2016 15" MBPtb.

I absolutely love mine. I upgraded from a 15" mid-2012 rMBP and the many changes to the new model are outstanding.
  • Display is gorgeous and so bright that I have to turn it down at night sometimes.
  • I use an external keyboard 99% of the time but I have zero problems with the new keyboard. The noise it makes is therapeutic to me.
  • The upgrade to the sound system is amazing. Can't believe how much fuller music sounds and how much louder you can crank the volume up to.
  • The touch bar is awesome. I consider myself a "power user" and I use a TON of keyboard shortcuts, but I love that the touch bar brings out options and choices that are otherwise hidden within menus or not easily accessible.
  • Having Touch ID is so convenient and I can also unlock this one with my Apple Watch so that's super nice too.

Dude, are you trolling? You gotta be.

I love mine. I actually ordered a 13" after a day thinking the 15 was too big after my Air with all intentions of returning the 15".
Short story I ended up keeping the 15" and returned the 13" unopened to Apple. (I had ordered the 16Gig RAM version).
Even the keyboard I was rally afraid would not be of my taste is actually much much better than expected and the 2017 version is improved from 2016 which I tried in numerous places and didn't like. Most of them had stuck keys. I am a touch typist but this works fine for me.
Only slightly negative marks from me are:
One, the fact that it is way to easy to hit "Siri" by mistake when I press the Delete key like many have written already. Thinking about turning it off for now as a workaround.
Second would have been a slightly quieter keyboard.

'Touchbar' I actually like and have gradually started to use it more and more.

My main regret is not going for the 512 SSD.... I picked the base model due to cost.

YES! I was doing this so much I ended up switching the brightness switch and Siri. I'll get used to the positioning eventually, but this was one issue I had that never really got talked about.

Still seeing contrary results on this. In theory the kaby lake cpu should run hotter then the 2016 and be a bit faster because of the increased clock speed. But in practice someone on this forum mentioned lower clock speeds because of presumed throttling on the new mbp. On the other hand notebookcheck just published a review on the new low tier 15 inch mbp, where it couldn't been brought to throttle in an iterative cinebench r15 cpu test (About 729 cb score). However the midtier scores about 700 cb (throttling?) on a recent review vid on mobiletechreview. Conflicting results apparently. If you could make the time for a cinebench r15 cpu test (or a different cpu based rendering test as handbrake) while measuring temps, we could perhaps get to the bottom of this. I think this could be important info for performance users.

Thanks for posting your reviews. I'm moving forward with a 2017 MBPtb 15". Thanks.

Well to be honest I have not had a chance to do any testing, but I can do it soon.

A really good thing with the toucher I fond out tonight when i using Powerpoint to present. In presentation mode the toucher lights up and you can go directly to slides from that one! Really cool function. Growing on me more and more.

Coming from a mid-2014 rMBP, I love my new 15" 2017 MBP.

I can feel the increased power and speed, the screen looks richer and vibrant, the touch bar is useful because I can open DevTools and can start inspecting the elements on webpages w/ custom buttons via BetterTouchTool, can log into websites w/ touch using 1Password, the ports are future-proof, the laptop looks better and lighter. The list goes on..

I tried one in the store but the keyboard is still not as good as the 2010 MBP's.

ok so if you don't like the keyboard that's fine but it's like me screaming at auto enthusiasts who claim all cars should be equipped with manuals. Sorry manuals are pretty much dead and so is the island chiclet previous gen keys found on your last gen Macbooks.

hate it or love it the new keyboard is the future for Apple. Now I am not head over heels for it since it's a bit loud, keys spaced really close together, and in the short time I have had my 2017 the "W" key becomes semi stuck time to time.

Recently switched to new 2017 15" from 2016 13". More than happy - super machine.

I highly recommend it!

I think he was mostly comparing the Macbook pro 2016 to Macbook pro 2017 not much have changed.

I'm not talking about that. He's pretending to not know that the 2017 model has been released, when he posted in many threads about it and even has "2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar 15" Space Gray" in his signature.

i don't believe a few minutes test drive in the store will do its justice

This so much. I hated it when trying it in the store, hell, I held off from buying for an entire year because of it and it took a 500€ discount for me to take the plunge. After a few hours of use I found it difficult to go back to my old MacBook Airs keyboard. Its very much a polarising keyboard that some love and some hate, but a few minutes of nonsense clicking will not make up anyones mind on it.

So far so good. The temperature is much better overall, except the same old problem from 2016 for the Display.

I have gone through countless of Macbook Pro 15", the 2016 and onward have the worst piece of crap in term of out of box color and the abominated uniformity issue. I have not yet seen a single display on 2016-2017 that have a proper display, even at the Apple store Demo machine. Apple definitely cheap out on the Display.

I'm not sure what you mean the display is not good. Are the colors, contrast and sharpness some how different by each Macbook pro? Is this what you mean by the display is not good.

Colors are pretty damn off out of box when sit next to my calibrated monitor. The previous generation that I got from 2013-2015 isn't this bad. The 2016-2017 all have yellow tint problem and uniformity color at one corner of screen that is really obvious.

Or I should say, the screens are just defected in general.

It is only the 2016 and 2017 where the colors are off and some have yellow tint?

I wonder if Apple is getting those LG screens.

I know some iPhones had yellow tint if the screens are LG but the Samsung screens where not.

Apple should not buy from LG any more.

I am very happy with my 2017 MBP 15" and really glad I waited for the Kabylake processor. I had tested (2) 2016 MBP 15" and had terrible lag going back and forth between pages within websites especially if one was playing a video. I'd get the spinning pinwheel and it would lock up my screen until I closed the lid to reset it. Also found lag in iTunes. The 2016 also exhibited terrible play/loose keys. I just was not happy out of 2 so decided to stop trying.

The 2017 keyboard is much sturdier feel firmer and more solid. After 2 weeks all keys still feel the same very uniform feeling. I also feel the click noise is softer sounding than the 2016. They changed something about the keys because they feel and work much better in my opinion.

I still don't like the touch bar but what can I do? I like the large track pad and Touch ID works perfectly. It's very solid no play in the button.

I love it.

Based on what I have seen, Samsung have the same problem too but worse.

iPhone 7 in general have warm feeling due to native white point is closer to calibrated, but some are just piss yellow.

So far from what I am seeing is that Apple have consistently having Yellow tint issue is due to cost cutting.

I have yet seen others have similar issue in such a scale. Like Surface as an example.
