Thanks for doing all this @fs454 !

Anytime! I know the 460 for me was the last bastion of mystery with this release and real-world video editing performance on this thing is going to determine whether I keep it or it goes back. I'm coming from a Late 2013 2.3ghz/16GB/750M 2GB MBP that I use heavily - my only issue right now is I can't plug a single one of the hundreds of drives here at the office in to test Premiere and FCPX. Gotta hit the Apple Store for some dongles, I guess.

Additionally, love the keyboard - generally dislike the trackpad. I guess I'm late to the game but I think the traditional click on the Late 2013 is so much faster and more tactile than the Force Touch versions that feel like they can't keep up. Do appreciate the size though. The new "Default for Display" is "looks like 1680x1050" on the 15 incher, now, too.
[doublepost=1479146713][/doublepost]Anything else? I'm off to the Apple Store to grab some dongles, but I'll be back and willing to run more tests. What are we thinking here, better or worse than expected for the 460?

I'm coming from the same machine, but second guessing myself now. Some of these benchmarks aren't too impressive. Really interested in how performance will be in Adobe applications with the new GPU.

@fs454 Can you show us the Radeon Pro 460 Device ID when you have a chance? Open System Information and go to Graphics/Displays then select the Radeon Pro 460. It looks similar to this (I'm running an RX 470 eGPU).

Sage, quick question, do you think as of 10.12.2 or whatever the latest version is, is eGPU good enough as a daily driver or are you running into any wierd issues at all. I'm chained to my desk 99% of the time, but going with Rx450 banking on an eGPU later.

Does the UI lags with that HD530?

Doesn't seem so. Everything is butter - I'm currently installing Premiere for some tests.
How hot and loud does the laptop get under load?

About to be doing some real work in Premiere today with 4K XAVC-S files as I attempt to work off this one exclusively today, I'll let you know. I did see the GPU hitting 89C during Uningine Valley default settings, 80C during Ultra. Was in a Starbucks near the UPS hub so I didn't hear the fans. I'll get back on this one.

I'm coming from the same exact computer - how much faster does it "feel" in general? Thanks for giving us all of this info, and congrats on the beautiful new machine!

So far it's super quick - I think the faster SSD and fresh macOS install are contributing to that although I didn't expect to see much of a difference beyond 500MB/sec. I'm absolutely loving the keyboard - I'm a 100+ WPM typer and I feel like I'm even faster on this since everything's so tight. Display is beautiful, bezels noticeably smaller (moreso than in pictures), and the trackpad is ridiculous in size. I'm going to have a hard time, if performance doesn't impress, justifying a return to my Late 2013 after all the little things that contribute to a great experience and extremely tight fit and finish.

I'll come back once I've blown through a few exports in Premiere.

Thank you for the Device ID. We were suspecting 67EF which is the same as the Desktop RX 460.

I wish I could say yes. It's still a challenge and not 100% functional in 10.12.2 Beta. OpenCL is not working with my setup.

Please check with FCP X 10.3 if you can. Have a feeling that will be substantially faster than Premiere on this new MBP 15".

I've never actually used it since 10.0.0 and my whole production house is on Premiere - but I'm fascinated by a lot of the research I've been doing and experience I've been seeing people have with it -- and how optimized it all seems to be is making me want to switch and get the rest of our guys to as well. We're all open to it, but used to the premiere workflow - especially with having to send things out for color and sound work all the time.

I totally get it! I'm on Adobe CC, so I have Premiere CC, and have used a Windows desktop until now, but that FCP X 10.3 looks super fast on the new MBP from what I have read. Looking forward to your findings either way. :)

I just tried to do the same export on both of my laptops and the Late 2013 forced a shutdown at 56% battery (I don't have my magsafe with me) before I could start the export, funnily enough, and won't turn back on without being plugged in. Will get back to this shortly when I can borrow a power cable.
