Keeping my 3 for now. I don't know what everyone else is talking about, but I get no lag at all with OS 7, it actually may be smoother. It can't be outdated if they're still selling the 2. I personally think they left out so much that they will be due for a short upgrade this cycle, much like it was from iPad 3 to the 4

Yes to support UK LTE and also to get rid of all remaining 30pin plugs. Just upgraded iPhone 4S for 5S.

But what about the weight man? ipad 3 is way heavy compared to air.

I think the difference in weight alone may make it worthwhile. And not only is the 3 heavy (relatively speaking), it is unbalanced. The weight of the battery is so much, it makes it heavy on one side, with an awkward center point of gravity.

I'm typing this on my 3rd gen iPad, hold it with 1 hand and typing with the other and feeling the strain in my holding hand, The major thing for me is that the Air will be so much thinner and lighter. I can't wait to get it. I had the Nexus 10 which was a wonderful device but I am selling if stuff I don't need. The Nexus 10/Samsung Galaxy have great form factors and I hope the Air is as light or maybe even lighter. I was all gun ghost about a retina mini but I think sine I spend so much computer time on a tablet I'm going to go with the full sized Air. Still on the fence about 64 vs 128. I'll probably go 128 because I have a ton of apps and I will be able to keep more movies on it for trips.

I'll pass for now, maybe next year. My iPad 2 and 3 work great and their are other tablets with just as good enough specs for far less.

I've kept my iPad 3 at iOS 5.1.1! Still pretty fast.

I have a mini that I'll keep at iOS 6. That might get upgraded, but I'm a little on the fence about that one.

Yes selling to Amazon just like my several last iPhones. The edges of the 3 have bugged me from day one. I am getting a mini and an air.

Sold mine to Nextworth. Now I'm on the fence between Air & Retina Mini. I didn't even consider the Mini before with non retina screen & old processor but this time besides screen size, they look very comparably spec'ed.

Nope. I am, however, replacing my Verizon iPad 3 64GB with a Verizon iPad 4 128GB now that refurbs are available at a considerable discount. :)

The decrease in weight on the iPad Air isn't quite dramatic enough for me. For comfortable prolonged single-handed usage, I'd need something that's around the weight of the iPad mini.

Ha.. You managed to keep iOS 7 from auto downloading?

Probably not. Looks very nice, but I am happy with my iPad 3 for my use. This year's update funds might be used for the 5S, if they ever get stock . . .

I'm still on a 3rd gen iPad, but I think I'll give it away to family and move to the Retina Mini. Since getting my first iPad Mini I seldom, if ever, use the full size one. It's just too bulky and not comfortable enough in one hand.

But, the Air looks really nice though, I would definitely upgrade over a 3rd gen if I were even considering it — it's much faster, lighter, and more compact. The hefty edges will definitely make the older gens look, and feel much older than they actually are (not even two years yet). It's expensive yes, but if you use your iPad a lot I don't see why you wouldn't consider it. Portability is arguably the best feature of an iPad and the third/fourth generations are just excruciatingly heavy by comparison.

Heh I do get a warning to update, but that's about it. I don't really sync much with this one. It's just for browsing the web and reading a little bit. My iPad Mini is the one that gets used on the go, but it can stay on iOS 6 for all I care.

Maybe I'll pick up a retina mini, but lets see how the A7 handles the bigger screen resolution.

PS: I do a lot of iOS development, so I do need various configurations.

Definately. I use my ipad for everything and have been out of space for 4 months. I didn't want to get the 4 knowing the air was coming out soon. So I held out. Plus since I waited I can get the verizon one.

In my case, I was holding out for a retina mini. Wish Apple hadn't raised the price on the mini, but I'll be getting a 64 gb some time in the next few months. I'd prefer the smaller form factor with the retina display.

Selling my 3 16GB on Monday for £250. I wasn't impressed with it since the day I bought it. Apart from the nice screen it feels underpowered so its one of the laggiest Apple devices I own thats on IOS6 and IOS7. Plus its really heavy. So.......the Air looks to cover all of those shortcomings and Im all for it!

I'm passing my 3 on to my sister (with a modest amount of $$$ changing hands) and getting the 128gb Air. I use my ipad constantly for my research - it helps that my work buys it for me, but I'd find a way to upgrade even without the subsidy. The 3 has been a little slow lately, and it's full (64gb), so I look forward to the storage and speed bumps. If Apple upgrades to an Air+ in 6 months I won't be happy, but I need the upgrade now.

No... I see nothing innovation come from this iPad Air beside regular spec. bump. Only thing it can attempting me is the weight.

I won't upgrade until iPad 3 really cannot handle anything and Apple comes up some innovative idea with iPad. Otherwise, it just an iPad...

Apple hasn't produced anything really innovative and exciting since the original iPad. Everything since has been evolutionary: faster, thinner, lighter, along with some almost obvious tweaks to the OS. Boring and nothing to get really excited over.

Apple's stock is to follow Microsoft into obscurity if they don't get back to the root-stock of disruptive innovation. Anyone can innovate incrementally and that will lead to inevitable competition and erosion of market share. They need to find another leader like Jobs. The current management is becoming too stodgy to allow that. Current management looks like they are taking the company back to the Sculley ere. Sad.:(
