I have to say, during the daytime hours, I'm not so concerned about someone grabbing my iPad and doing a runner. But I tend to stick to my iPhone simply because it's more awkward to get my iPad in and out of my bag. When I'm on the express bus, and there's no one in the seat beside me, I'll take out my iPad to read, or to tap out emails, edit documents, etc.

Steviejobs which moleskin type case do you use? Can you share a link ?

Thank you.
Not sure of the case(s) they use but here is what I use/have used:

http://www.portenzo.com/

their cases can look like books. They have moleskinish options...or cases for moleskine as well.

I've used the leather options. Can't speak for the other options but their craftsmanship is on the ball for all I have owned from them. Several ipad, mini, and phone cases. I've had some confused looks at meetings as I open the case they see the ipad(variant) inside.

they can sacrifice looks for durability. the wood frames (if) used are not 3 feet drop test proof overtime. Not a ding on them as its wood, nice wood in fact....I blame myself for my mishaps lol. Just saying these would be not cases to give kids you won't be supervising fulltime to make sure they handle it nicely lol.

yes they cost some money. I have never regretted a purchase from them over several years though. And I can critique damn near anything lol.

I replied without thinking too much. Is iPad theft still a thing? Now that we have activation lock, how much can you get for a locked iPad? is it worth getting a felony for it?

Care to leave your iPad unattended in a public place and find out? Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that iDevices are stolen all the time. Probably because a lot of people don't bother to set up proper security on their devices. It's not just about the resale value, it's about the valuable personal data that you can find on someone's iPad or iPhone.

During the day I have no problems whipping out any of my gear (iPad Pro, MBP, iPhone, Apple Watch, Beats Stufio Wireless) on the subway in Boston.

That said, I have been eyeballed a few times later at night (especially with my headphones on) so that I've decided that it's not worth taking my gear out then.

One time, I was riding to the end of a line and a pretty shady dude (he was counting money with his friend at midnight on the subway...) kept looking at my headphones. It became pretty obvious that they were headed to the end of the line as well. At the second to last stop I waited to see if they were going to get off... when they didn't I jumped off before the doors shut. I simply waited for the next train (they were nowhere to be seen when I did reach the last station).

No idea if I was in any real danger... but I'm glad I didn't find out!

In Singapore, Hong Kong, or Japan, no problem at all. Many have iPads as well. But yeah, not sure about anywhere else in the world.

Although when people here (Japan) somehow pull out a tablet on a crowded train which digs into my back/shoulders/etc, I kind of wish it was a problem.
