The latest Apple notebook I have is a PowerBook G4 1.5GHz so I think it's time I upgrade, considering how behind it is in OS X releases, sluggishness compared to the new laptops and the growing list of apps it cannot run.

I'm going for the 15 inch with Retina display, hopefully it'll live a long life as my current laptop did...

Im really confused and was hoping someone could help answer some questions about the 13inch macbook pro:

Has the 13inch model actually been made thinner or not? It seems like its not getting the retina display (damn!!!) but apart from that it seems like the dimensions are exactly the same too?! Is the 13inch model any thinner than last then at all now or not!?

Also does it still have the superdrive if it is thinner? or has it been removed?

All the damn tech blogs seem to have conflicting information and on the apple store I cant seem to see any change in the 13inch models?

No change on the 13" models other than the updated internals.

Going back and forth between the refurb late 2011 base ($1359), refurb late 2011 base with hires ag ($1489), and 2012 base ($1699)

Trying to determine if the graphics refresh and USB3 are worth it.

You can always get USB3 from a TB dock from Matrox ($250) and Belkin ($400), plus the TB cable itself ($50-60).

Probably since I'm looking to make it my new main computer.

I'll be replacing a Core i5 2.8GHz desktop with it. I'll probably be moving around a bit in the next year and don't really need or want anything to do with desktops anymore.

One more year to go

I wish i could buy the New Retina Macbook Pro, but it is way over my budget. Maybe next year for 13" Retina :p. The 13" Macbook Pro is just an minor upgrade, at least higher resolution monitor is required (like Macbook Air), but :apple: have different thoughts.

I really wish to upgrade my 160GB internal hard drive of my Macbook. But, I have very hard time to find 1TB one in Indonesia. I already upgrade the RAM to 8GB to 'make it useable'. As long as OSX Mountain Lion is installable to my Macbook, I think it would be fine for one more year.

Looks like the 13-inch version is incoming in August. Just in time for school.

I am very confused as to whether I should sell my current MBP for the new Retina MBP.
It is tempting to say the least, 2kg, thinner design and beautiful IPS display...
Changed my mind... not worth it at the moment

Should have made it multiple selections.

I've ordered a new 11" maxed out Air except keeping 256GB storage to replace my original 11" Air. I also am going to order the new Retina MacBook Pro with 512GB, 16GB Ram and the 2.6GHz processor. That will replace my 2008 13" Alu MacBook.

I use the Air on trips where weight and size really matter and shorter trips or ones that I don't care about weight, I will bring the new Retina MacBook Pro. Mostly this is all used for photography running LR and/or Aperture. My new ipad comes along as the main on the plane media consumption device. Also the Retina Macbook will become the new couch potato that I use in front of the TV. Amazingly it is lighter (just) than my current 13"

I'm a 13" user, but by keeping the resolution at 1280x800 Apple has lost my customership for this upgrade. I will hold my current MBA until 2013.

Shame of the gimp resolution, I was really in the market for a new 13-incher.

Yeah im not a macbook owner myself but was keen on getting a 13inch macbook with a nice display..and I had hoped it would be thinner too?! doesnt seem like the 13inch is getting much love.

I may hold out until next year I guess =/ :mad:

I firmly agree with you. I have a 1280x800 MacBook, and I would only buy another 13" if Apple upgraded the resolution (sadly, the Air has the screen that I want, but lacks the storage I need).

Finally upgrading my 2006 MBP. 7-10 days can't come soon enough!

I plan on getting the old chassis MBP.

I'm sure retina display is beautiful, and once I see one in person later down the road I'll wish I had it, but quite frankly I don't think the price is worth it. And besides, the current 1600x screens are quite nice and I would be more than satisfied with it.

I just popped on a new high-end 2012 MacBook Pro 13" 2.9ghz i7 with the BTO 1TB hard drive...it already comes with 8GB of RAM, so for my uses, it'll be great. :)
