It’s tough for me to say. I know companies tend to use that as a benchmark. So in that example, a video would be looped to play over and over using radios constantly via a WiFi connection. The same ratings over cellular drops to 10 hours. But they don’t tell us things such as what brightness is set at. The 5.8” Pro is said to get up to 4 hours longer battery life than the XS.

I would hate to steer you in the wrong direction. But I’d also hate to see you end up with a phone size you dislike over 1-2 hours of battery life over the course of a full day.
I know. I’d hate that as well for a mere 1-2 hours extra on the Pro Max. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the big screen, BUT the fact that it’s heavier than the XS Max is kind of a turnoff. I know its not much on paper, but I know it’ll be very noticeable since we use/carry our phones daily. I’ll go for the Max for right now. If anything, I can always exchange it for the Pro within the 14 day return policy. Thanks for bringing this to my attention :) I will definitely keep this in mind, and will also be checking YouTube videos about Pro vs Pro Max battery life.

After owning a 6S Plus for 2 years and then using a 10 for another 2, I realized how comfortable it is to use the 5.8" screen. If I upgrade this year, it will be a Pro (no Max for me).

That is totally valid and fair. The Pro Max is almost half a pound and that’s without a case or glass screen protector. I personally will go with the Pro Max but with my usage, it’s my primary device. I don’t use tablets and rarely get on my MacBook. I watch a fair amount of media on it. Lastly, I’m 6’8” tall so I can one hand the larger device. That makes quite a difference. But nothing beats the portability of the smaller size.

Knowing my being OCD, I’ll probably get one of those edge to edge glass screen protectors. I decided to go black on black for the first time, so I ordered a black leather case. But aside from that, I’ll probably get one of those ultra thin cases which will only protect the phone against scratches. I don’t really ever drop my phone *famous last words* so I’m confident it won’t really be an issue. Hopefully with the ultra thin case the Max will be more manageable. And, holy crap. 6’8?! I’m only 5’7. You definitely won’t have any issues lol. At least I have piano fingers?

The 11 Pro.

With there being absolutely no difference in feature set, there’s nothing drawing me to the Pro Max. I have an iPad Pro if I want/need a bigger screen.

Haha piano fingers!! I too use a very thin case and haven’t been prone dropping. Hopefully where you live, you have access to an Apple store and the free 14 day return window. That way you can test it out to your needs and make the best decision for you. I wish you the best in your decision!

I filmed a 40 minute 4K video once on a 128GB XR (tried it out before returning it) and it worked just fine. I’m in the 256GB club.

If the prices were lower this year I still would’ve gone for 256GB.

My rule of thumb is 128GB for personal use and 128GB for filming.

Hope that helps :)
That definitely helps. I'll stick with 256. That has been more than enough for me so for. Thanks

I have not decided as yet, but am tempted to get the iPhone 11 Pro. I use my iPhone extensively for photography, including work, so the camera improvements are very welcome. Also on days I am using the phone heavy without charging, the battery sometimes does not last - so the extra battery life sounds a useful improvement.

I will probably go for the 5.8” for ease of carrying in my pocket and holding. The Max while the larger display is attractive, is rather large for comfort for me, while offers no extra capabilities.

I do! I have an Apple Store 5 short blocks away from my apt. I’m set. Thank you so much for the advice. You’re grand.

The only way I'm spending money on a new iPhone is when Apple gets rid of the notch totally and the camera bump. And I'm ready to run my X to the ground.

I’ve had both sizes over the years. Currently have XS Max and while I love the screen size, it is big and unwieldy a lot of the time. And heavy. Apple has made the Pro Max even HEAVIER, by a sizeable amount, which I am shocked by. That is making me lean toward going back to the 5.8”.

256GB Pro 5.8” for me, as long as the rear of the phone is comfortable to hold as the glossy glass on my old XR wasn’t nice to hold after any extended period of use.

Although saying that I’ll probably also get the genuine leather case, just got to decide between the new midnight green or space grey.

Still undecided but if I upgrade from the 8 Plus it will be the Pro Max. No brainer IMO... $100 extra for the extra real estate.

Same here. I'm ready to say my goodbyes to the 8 Plus. Pro Max 256Gb should do me fine. It's a luxury upgrade for sure. I could argue that the 8+ still has life in it with some comfort, but I want the better screen and camera and everything else. Just need to decide whether I jump ship from o2 to Sky (I'm a VIP customer there). Or perhaps go with Vodafone where my missus is also planning to upgrade - and if I jump in on that, I get 15% off.

Gonna be busy from 1pm tomorrow.

I’m currently using the iPhone X, I’m thinking of upgrading to the Pro Max.

After going from 7s max to X and then Xs, going back to max size this year. I have liked both sizes for different reasons, but since I do not carry my iPad Pro all over it will be nice to have the larger screen again for things that I don’t need to always use iPad for.

I actually changed my mind from the Pro Max to the 11. After trading my kids 7 Plus last week for $270 and getting $300 for my 8 Plus (which I won't get next year) I can get the 128GB 11 for about $170. My 256GB 8 Plus currently has 195GB available hence the reason for the downsizing.

It's not an upgrade I have to do... but every video I've seen has said the 11 is the best value in this years lineup and why not at this price... Since I really don't care about the OLED screen or the 3rd camera the 11 is what I am going with.

If the new phones come out next year completely redesigned with 5G and all the other perks I'm in a better position to upgrade as far as trade value too.

Not worried about screen size... I've held the kids XR and the 6.1 screen next to my 8 Plus and I'm fine with it. XR is the same size as the 11.

Where did you get that $270 trade in value? It says the 7 plus is worth $200 at Apple

Neither. I'm sticking with my X one more year it seems. There's nothing compelling enough to make me want to upgrade.
I have to agree that nothing is compelling for me to upgrade. Sticking with my XS Max another year.

Pre-orders are going up in about 2 days and was wondering which phone size you guys were getting between the two pro models.

I'm on a 6 Plus and I'm not sure which one to go for. I like the big size for media consumption but putting this in pockets has never felt completely comfortable the past few years. It never felt "right" when I slipped it into my pockets so I'm a bit conflicted on which one to get.

Which one will you guys be getting?

I've been using the iPhone X + for about a year now and overall I've been pretty happy with it. I'll be getting the regular Pro 11 (smaller screen). I use my phone for music/podcasts, email, text, price checking and youtube videos. I'll appreciate the more compact size since I always have my phone on me... more pocketable. I'm active and take my phone to the gym and on bike rides. In cotton pants, the phone is too bulky in my front pocket. I've been wanting to downsize... I have an ipad or computer if I need to be on a screen for an extended period of time.

I am COMPLETELY torn on this one. Currently have an X which I find a tad too small sometimes, but absolutely love it's pocketability size.

I have a 11Pro midnight green on pre order but then wondered if i should go MAX as i didn't mind my old 7 Plus and I dont have very good eyesight without my glasses on. But I mainly use my ipad pro for media consumption....

Went to the apple store today to hold the XS max, and I actually didnt mind it. I do prefer holding the 5.8 inch size, but for viewing photos and videos the max was great.

I couldnt give the max a good pocket test in store, it felt 'ok' when i put it in, so now i have absolutely no idea.

Mainly upgrading as i'm into photopgraphy and doing a trip around Europe next month (which makes me lean towards the 5.8 as doing a LOT of walking with the 6.5 might become annoying?)

At the Apple store.

I think the rep made a mistake and credited me for a 128GB 7 Plus instead of the 32GB. I didn't know until I got home and checked the balance and saw the $270.

Don't feel bad about it either... Apple does enough price gouging.
