Are you going to sell your iPad 2 when the new iPad is released or keep it?

That's pathetic. If I (which I never will) even attempted to give my wife an older device in turn for a newer one for myself, she will become upset. If I were to give an iPad to my wife, it would either be the new one (in which case I will keep old) or I will purchase 2 new ones (in which case both of us will get it).

If I was GIVEN an iPad 2 from my boyfriend I surely wouldn't complain.

IP2 will go to the wife. IP3 will go to me...i hope....

This. Except for the hope bit.

What a naive and ignorant statement.

It most certainly is pathetic that you're wife would become upset should you decide to purchase an iPad 3 and offer her your iPad 2. In fact, if she's likely to get that upset I suspect she'll be first in line for the iPad 3 anyway.

Collecting them all.
My wife and I both had the "ones"--she got an iPhone shortly afterwards and loved the portability of it and the fact that it did all that her iPad did--so, (thankfully) she saw no need to upgrade to the two when I did. Now, I simply hand down the previous models to the kids--everyone's happy. Can't wait for the third!!

I thought about it, I collect my Mac's, but my phones and iPads go to friends less fortunate than I am, besides, once we have the new ones, it's rare that the old much loved predecessor would be used much if at all.

Disposable technology? Not Apple stuff, but it's good to know it's still being used, and has found a deserving home.

I hear you--however, MY definition of "less fortunate" would mean anyone who doesn't have the latest generation of tech!!!:D
I find it extremely difficult to part with my old tech (& the wires/chargers for old tech as well))--I made the mistake of giving an old iPhone to the "less fortunate" in the past--THAT's something I'll never do again--I liken it to E.T.--he used old tech to phone home--I might have to do the same one day!!

I have to sell my iPad 2 in able to afford the iPad 3. In fact, I already sold it to get maximum value for it. I will never sell this early again. I severely regret my decision. Someone else is now enjoying my iPad, and I'm sitting here without one for the last 3 weeks.

Last year, target was offering $350 for ipad 1 when ipad 2 was going on sale on first day.. if i go to target and they offer the same deal, i will sell my ipad 2 and get ipad 3

It's funny to me that every time there is a refresh I see tons of comments saying "I'm getting the new, shiny, cool one, the old piece is going to the wife". I always get a good chuckle out of that as if these men feel more manly by saying/ doing that. It must be an alpha thing. ;)

Looks like iPad 3 is going to have an upgrade screen... wowo thats what I want.. I am using iPad 1 now and i will selling my iPad 1 go get the 3... .can't wait!!!

iPad 1 owner who won't be changing yet.

I don't relate to all the people who sell ”at the perfect time" every year to get the latest and greatest.

It just seems so exhausting. Treating it with 'kid gloves' all year, selling on eBay, waiting a month, and trying to be one of the early buyers. . . . . Every year.

I am more of a "use it, love it and abuse it until it breaks kind of guy."
I also think it makes the eventual upgrade more significant/rewarding.

If I were totally loaded that would likely change however.

+1

My 2 is to beat up to get a really good price I think. Between 2 kids and over a 100 days of travelling with work, it takes it's toll.
And I hate having any cases on both my iPhone and iPad, so that dosent help.

I would love a better display for reading, Other than that it's nothing they can do to improve it for my user experience (I think)

I find it more rewarding to buy the latest and greatest, use it for a year, sell it to those weirdos who overpay on ebay and walk away with a very small loss and a solid upgrade complete with price drop, more features and full warranty.

Its not like Apple is going to release a "worse" system so as long as Ebay is around then it may be even cheaper to do yearly sell/rebuys than buying AppleCare. Both with the iPad 1 and iPad 2 then they sold with only a $50 loss so Im happy to make yearly updates a habit.

You don't have to buy Applecare. If you buy it with most any credit card they double the warranty anyway.

I don't have an iPad 2 :L

I may buy the iPad 3 if it has a retina display. Or shall I wait for the iPad 4? Or shall I just be hapoy I have the iPad 1?

Choices choices choices :p

As others have said, to each his own. In my case, if\when we get an iPad 3 the iPad 2 will move to the wife. It isn't an attempt to treat her poorly or disrespect her. My wife doesn't care about the latest and greatest. She just wants a tablet device to browse the web and ebay. She was ready to buy a refurb iPad 1 for that until rumors of the iPad 3 started to come around. Then she said she would take the iPad 2 and send me off with full blessing and some of her money to get the iPad 3.

Before I get bashed for having his\her money in our marriage, we have 1 shared account to pay our bills and 2 individual much smaller accounts for our own money. Christmas and birthdays would be much less fun if we could just login and see where our money was spent.

agree with this. what we do is have shared accounts for bills and savings. then we have our original individual accounts where we draw a small allowance each month to pay for xmas/bday gifts to at least have some semblance of surprise when it comes to things like this.

I'll probably end up keeping my iPad 2 for now. I'm sure I will eventually sell it down the road.

So who has the 2.7GHz i& with 8GB of RAM, and who got the 2.3GHz i5 with 4GB in your sig?

:D

Keeping mine.

It makes me laugh how many people commit to buying the latest iPad before its even announced.

Fools and their money are easily parted ;)

Already sold my to family member, but not giving it away till iPad3 in my hand. Sure, I loose some $, but this is one of the treats for me :)

i already sold mine :)
i made the decision after playing around a lot with the android products and hearing the reviews of the Asus Transformer Prime with ICS. knowing that i will not get an android device, mainly because of the screen aspect ratio (who knew i would care so much about that?), the decision to upgrade was easy.

How - when you don't know what the new iPad will have yet? It could just have an upgraded camera or something!
